Sanitary Oonmitteen+an reported that work on the Destructor Plant is procreselng. That
the Board of Health has divided the oity into three sanitary distriots with an
inspector in charge of each dietriot, and he is responsible for enforcing 'the sanitary
code in hie district, and it was hoped to get better results. That he is chairman of a
oommittee appointed by the President of Council to look into the matter of widening
AVENUE D; that Mr. E. C. Stahl has done a great deal of work and had prepared a map showing
what must be done to scours a 70 foot street from Waddell Street to Buena Vista Road,; that
Br. Stahl has made a tentative estimate of the cost to the city and thinks it can WI' dons
for less than $3200. as he thought some of Mr. Stahl's estimates very liberal; that there is
G an alley on each side of the street extending from Waddell northwardly to Morse on the
east side and to Lafayette Street on the west ride of Avenue D and by closing this alley and
giving it to the propoerty owners they would lose nothing because in that district it
is only neo..ssary to secure 10 feet additional on each side of the Avenue to make it
70 feet 'in width and the only question of damage would be in the case of moving a building
Mr. E. C. Stahl at.:ted that tie Gas ComPany had agreed to give 20 feet, whioh it was
thought would be necessary to secure on the west ales: of the street, if the city would stag
the expense of moving one or their tanks, but after a survey had been made it was
found that 10 feet would have to be secured on either side of the street whioh he th;:ught
would make it unnecessary to move the gas tank.

Dr. McGonigle had stated an engineer would be here in a short time to lookainto the
question of enlarging the mains.
Chairman Wert requested that hydrants be installed on the southside as quickly as
possible.
Councilman Hefty replied that the water company has a complete list of points at whioh
hydrants are necessary and they are doing the best they can under conditions exbiting.
That it is expected to select a site fax the new fire station in the southside in the

Iounoilman McDonald stated that he knew Mr. Mutton, or Sutton, that he is a good

Councilman Ralston: It is all right so long as the expense is charged to the Street Dept.
Councilman Conrad: He should be in ohargs of the entire equipment of the Street and
;Sanitary Departments. I do not want to appoint a man who is not satisfactory to the
Sanitary Department. He is well recommended by everyone who knows him and by our Buimding
inspector. He will furnish his awn tools.
Moved by L. C. Romfh, seconded by J. A. McDonald, that the Mayor be authorized to
purohase a gasoline tank and street grader. Motion oarried.
Parks. Councilman McDonald, (Committeeman on Parks a Docks) It is well known that there is.
*o money in the Park Fund, but the Finance Committeeman says that later on they. will be a
,large sum to put into our Parke. I wou;d like very much to have two more tennis courts
ordered in our City Park because they are very much needed and we should supply them.
1 have also suggested to the Street Committeeman that all dist from streets and sidewalk
:building be dumped where it can be used for filling on our prk sites and °barge the Park
,Department for the use of the teams. I also think it would be well to dump a great deal of dirt
;along the Bay Front as I am sure we oan determine where our property line 1s along there.
'There is also urgent demand for park work in the south side. I would like to have council
'Irate on at least two tennis courts and prefer to have four additional courts on the city
:park. Mr. Ralston was kind enough to put the burden on my shoulders of getting up the
:;public comfort stations but I told him he would have to a elist me to find locations. The
arohitcot has promised to have plans in a few days and I will submit the plane to
:council and endeavor to find suitable locations
+Councilman Romfh: I think we may as well do something on the southside and in getting up
'plans we should do so with the idea of building the tennis courts in Riverside and
Southeide. After we know what the cost will be I think we can finance it, but want some
:estimate or the cost.
i,Counoilman Ralston: I think there should be a comfort station in every park.
;Councilman McDonald: I agree that there should be. Whatever is done about the tennis
courts, I thi nk tnc location can be decided later and think they will post about t100.
aeaoh.
,Councilman Romfh: Get the edtimates and we will sae what can be done. I believe we
}ehould have some in Riverside and also an the Southside.
;CITY CEMETERY CO1;STYUCTION OF A WALL ALONG THE BISCAYNE Darn FRONT
'Mr F. R. Rand presented plane and specifications for a oonorete wall along the oast

43600. That something should be dons to screen the cemetery as a mark of sespect and
;that he did not propose to make anything out of the work at all as he had a competent
oonstruotion foroe at Miramar and oould possibly do the work a little cheaper than a
contractor, but was perfeotly willing that the oity advertise for bide and if lower
bias were reoeived he would have his Superintendent supervise construction of the wall
without cost to the oity stria if cheaper bids are not received his offer stands.
