Filer introduced the following resolution: RESOLUTION NO: 360 Whereas, it is the duty of the city council of the oityof Miami, at its next meeting after having been notified of the amount of the sum total of the taxable property, to ascertain the amount of money neoeseary for oarrying on the government of said oity, not exceeding ten mills on the dollar of the taxable oaeh values of all property in said city, both real and personal, and in addition thereto, to levy such additi $i taxes as provided for in Seotion 48 of the city oharter and to asoertain the amOant et money needed for each department of said oity; and - Whereas, said city oounoil sitting as a Board of Equalisation on July 6th, 7tb, 8th, 9th, l0tb and llth and August mil, legal notice thereof having been duly given as required by law, did examine the assessment rolls of the oity tax assessor of the taxable property of said city for the year 1914, and did sit an said dates for the purpose of hearing oomplaints and receiving testimony as to the value of any property, real or personal, as fixed by the city assessor of taxes,and for perfecting, reviewiag and equalising said assessment, and did make such changes in said assessment rolls Gad did revise and equalise suoh saeeesments as in the opinion of the Board of Equalisation were deemed neoessary and proper; and Whereas, said oity oounoil was duly notified at its regular meeting held oni*ugust 6th, 1914, that the sum total of the taxable property in the city of Miami fax year A.D. 1914, was fixed at $6,835,837.00; and • Whereas, the city °barter provided that in case a levy shall not be mods for the expenses of any one or more of the city departments, that the expense of such department or departments shall be paid out of the General Fund: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the oity of Miami,Florida: Section 1. Oounoilxan Ralston introduoed the following resolution: REBOWTI041)[0: 363 Whereas, the oity obuaoil of the oity of Mmiami has heretofore ascertained the amount of money needed for eaoh department of said city and has heretofore adopted a resolution setting forth the several mounts so required; and Whereas, said amounts as estimates of money needed for each City department were submitted to the mayor, and the same having been duly approved by him and returned by him, together with his approval, to the city oounoil: NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, by the city council of the oity of Miami,Florida: 8eotion 1. That there shall be and is hereby assessed and levied on all real and personal property within the said oity of Miami that is taxable and as shown by the tax assessment books of the oity tax oolleotor and returned for taxes in said city for the year 1914, the General Fund of 10 mills on each One dollar valuation; for Repairs and Internal Improvement Fund a levy of 5 mills on eaoh one dollaruation;• for Hospital Fund a levy of f mill for each one dollar valuation; for Lighting the City Fund a levy of 1* mills for eaoh one dollar valuation; for Interest Bond Fund a levy of 3 mills on each one dollar valuation; for Sinking Fund for redemption of bonds a levy of 1 mill for eaoh one dollar valuation, or a total It 21 mills on each one dollar valuation, all of whioh levies are duly authorised by the oity charter of said oity. Section 3. That the oity assessor of said oity is hereby authorised and direoted to so extend and oomplete his assessment roll for the year 1914 as to designate thereon the levies herein made for the several funds aforesaid, and to carry out the full amount of taxes for all city purposes under one head in the assessment roll to be provided for that purpose, and to compute and designate on said assessment roll the amounts to be collected against the taxable property within the said pity as based upon the levy herein made. Said oity assessor shall thereupon deliver the original assessment rolls so prepared as aforesaid to the city olerk and oolleotor of said city after attaohing thereto the affidavit required by 8eotion 31 of Chapter 5596 of the laws of Florida 1907, and the warrant required by Section 33 of Chapter 5596 of the Laws of Florida 1907, and deliver certified oopy thereof to the auditor of the oity of Miami. Seotion 3. Upon delivery to the said city olerk and oolleotor of the assessment toll as provided for in the previous seotion of this resolution, the said oity clerk is hereby direoted and ordered forthwith to oolleot the taxes upon the assessments so prepared and delivered by said oity assessor, and make deposit of suoh ooileotions and report thereof to the oity of Miami.
