Adjourned hosting of Council called to order by the Chairmen. Members
present: C. G. Erf er t, C. r. H. G. Ralston, C. Hefty, R. C. Romfh,
J. A. Conrad.
The Chairman advised Council that the first thing to 1e taken up v.as the
preparing of The Ballot Box for the Bond Risetion , to be held May 12th. Council
prooeeded to prepare the Ba11ot Box , after which, the following motion
was made. -
Moved by E. C. Romfh, seconded by,,H. G. Ralston' That the Csuneil
prepare one Ballot Box of sufficient size to receive all ballots. The Ballet
ox was plainly merkid "Ballot Box City of Miami, Spesi*1 Eio*tiaon held at the City
Council Chambers, Mny 12, 1914": Twice as many ballots were deposited as there
ere registered qualified voters in the city; the box was looked, the key
hole and all other openings sealed and the key, in a sealed envelope was delivered
to M. P. Freeman, one of the inspectors, with the box, on his taking and sub-
scribing an oath as required by law.

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING NOTICE.
RE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Miami, Florida,
WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been notified by the Special Consulting
Engineer of said city that the laying and construction of a drain in, under
and along Twelfth Street from Avenue C to Avenue E; Avenue R from Tenth Street
to Fourteenth Street; Fourteenth Street from Avenue A to Bey Biscayne and
Avenue D from Sixth Street to the Miami River, under and pursuant to Improvement
Resolution Number 98 heretofore adopted by this body on September 4th, 1913,
has been completed acoording to the provisions of the oontraet for said improvement;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOI.V! D, That the 21st day of May, 1914, at 8
o'clock P. M. be and the same is hereby fixed as the date for the hearing of all
complaints which the owner or owners of property attested by, and all other persons
interested in said improvement, may desire to make against the cost thereof,
which said hearing shall be held at the Chambers of the Council of said City.

Notice is hereby given that the laying and eonetruetion of a drain
in,under and along Twelfth Street from Avenue C to Avenue E; Avenue B from Tenth
Street to Fourteenth Street; Fourteenth Street from Avenue B to Ray Piseeyne and
Avenue D from Sixth Street to the Miami River, according to and in eompli"nce
with Improvement Resolution Number 98 heretofore adopted by this body
on September 4th, 1913, is completed according to the provisions of the contract
for eeid improvements.
The total cost of said improvements in '°16,242.94. On Avenue D the total
frontage of lots or parcels of land liable to liens therefor is 5,818feet,
On Twelfth Street the total frontage of lots or parcels of land liable to liens
therefor is 1,6;6. On Avenue A the total frontage of lots er parcels of lend liable
to liens therefor 1s 12.045.5. The amount of lien per front foot claimed by the
city for said improvement is 00.40. The cost of miscellaneous 6 inch drains et street
interssotiona at Twelfth Street and Palm Drive; at Avenue C and Thirteenth Street,
and at Twelfth Street and Avenue G (to be paid by the city) le 184.53•
The cost of the six inch house eons rations which were run in from the main
sanitary mowers from the main line a '690.32, including the cost of the
six inch sewer pipe, epesial work lush as inserting Y brsnchee in the main sewer,
engineering supervision, etc. The cost per foot of the 1,372 feet of six inch
sewer used for house so.nneetione .(complete) end .for which tile city will glair

Special Meeting called and held Wednesday, May 13th, 191A, at which the returns

The Police Committeeman reooumaended the purehesing of new uniforms for all
the policemen, and oleo recommended that the C let's salary be raised to $125.00
per month.
After discussing the two propositions, the following motion was made:
Moved by H.G. Ralston, seconded by C.F.Filer, that the Police Committeeman
be authorized to confer with the 'Mayor and request him to purchase uniforms for the
policemen. Motion carried.
Councilman Conrad reeorsiended that the Traffic Ordinance be amended so as to
reduce the speed limit in the eongested part of the city.
Moved by J. A. McDonald, seconded by C. F. Filer, that the City Attorney
be instructed to prepare an ordinance defining the lines of a fifteen miles speed
limit.
