Conrad, J.A.McDoneld, :T.R.RRlston. The Chairman advised Council that as the Mayor was out of the city, and he was Actin; Mayor, the first thing in order wee the ele ct ion of a temporary Chairmen Moved by E. C.Romfh , seconded by J. A. McDonel d, that C. Hefty be elected Temporary 2hairman. Notion carried. A communication wos read from Mrs. Arena R Hahn, asking that her tales be reduced on her home located at the corner of loth Street and Ave. C. (loved by H.C,.Relstun, seconded by J. A. McDonald, that communication be referredd to the Committeeman on Finance and City Attorney, with power to act. Motion carried. 4 eomnunicetion was read from J. G. Crosland, Asking that his bill for dredging the `-Sieni River be paid ns soon Rs possible. 'loved by E.C.'tonfh, seconded by J. •,. McDonald, that communication be receieed and referred to the Auditor. Motion carried. A coxununicetion was read from, the South Side Civie Association , asking that R light be placed on the Bay Front at the er. d of 20th Street, and that they be given e policeman. Moved by E.C.Roefh, secnnde{I by J. A. !'c')oneld, that the communication be received and referred to the Committeemen on Streets and police Committeeman. Motion carried. A- communication vows read from the City Attorney in reference to the claim. which !Kra. The attorny said that he had investigntedthe matter and lid not think Mrs. Time had the shad ow of 0 claim against the city, as it was broad day light and she Just simply calked into a scantling and fell , but if Council wanted to give her anything, of Bourse they could do so. Moved by J. A. Mcnonu1d, seconded by i.G.Ralston, that communication be retained, and referred to Committeeman on Streets, and Finance Cor.slitteeman, with power to pet. Motion carried. A petition from the property hoidens on Ninth Street between Avenue 6 and the River was read, asking that Ninth Street be paved, And noting that Vile was the third petition and that all the property holders were ready to core up with their share of the cost w?.en the we .w is completed. Moved by F. C. Runfh, seconded by J. A. Conrad, that the p tition be reeeived and the Engineer end Cite Attorney be instructed to prepare a resolutin and profiles end advertise for bids. "otion carried. The petition was read from the residents of the Buenn ViFte Section protesting against the establishing of Railroad Terminals in that vicinity. luved by J. A. A petition was read from the property holders on 'first Street, asking that a roadway be constructed on First Street from Avenue E. to Avenue J. Moved by J. A. Conrad, seconded by E. C. Romfh, that petition be received and the CoNmitteemen on Streets be instructed to construct s roadway covering the line 'wed for. Motion carried. Council next dismissed the installing of new water mains. and hydrants in the city vhere, needed, sifter whieh, , the fo i lowing motion was made: Moved by E. C. Romfh, seconded by J. A. Conrad, that the Committeeman on Fire and the Fire Chief be instructed to furnish.Council with A report showing the locality where hydrants are needed. Motion carried. The Committeemen on Sonitetion reported that the Board of Tteelth had established offices in the Burdine Building, that that the martter of the p 1ui bing in the Daniels Building , Which had been referred to hire And the City Attorney for fxiJ ,istment; advised that all had decided to settle the matter by arbitration. The Clerk reed the notice which had been advertised 'nd posted st the City Hall, Court House and Post Office, giving.all abutting property holders the op— portunity of making any complaint as to the manner in which the work wes dons on the following streets: The first notice read by the Clerk was the notice of completion, of grading, paving and curbing of 19th Street from eastern- curb line of Ave. D to the western curb line of Brickell Avenue to a width of 34 feet . After reading the notice, and giving thR amount of assessment against each lot, the Clerk askedif there was any winner of complaints of the way in which the work wan done. There was none. Notice of completion of grading, peeing and curbing of Avenue E from the north eurb line of 12th Street to the north curb line of llth Street to A width of 34 feet. The same question was asked as the above by the Clerk .. There were no complaints. Notice of completion of laying, constructing and installing of a fifteen inch storm sewer on llth Street, from Avenue E eastwardly a distance of approxim!,tsly 160 feet. ""The Clerk askedif there wereany complaints as to the manner in which this work_.was done. There were nnne. Notice of completion of laying, construction and installing of an 18 inch storm Hewer on Avenue E from 12th St. to llth St., approximate distance of 346 feet. The Clark asked if there were any complaints to make of the r,anner in which this work was done. There were none. Notice of compltion of grading, paving and curbing of -'f3eonrt „treat from the north side of 12th Street to the south side of llth St, to a width of 34 feet. The Clerk,asked if there were any complaints an to the manner in which this work was done. There was nose. Notice of completion of grading, paving anri curbing of llth Street from the west side of Court Street to the east side of that part of Avenue E which lies between 12th Street and llth Street to a width of 34 feet. The Clerk Asked if there were any complain :,s ne to the manner in which .this work was done. There was none. WHEREAS, the City Charter of Miami, Florida, provides that when • drain or sewer is laid or constructed no greater amount of cost thereof shall be assessed against the abutting property than two—thirds of the total soot of ].dying an eight ineh sewer, and WHEREAS, the City Council after investigation among competent authorities is informed that the total cost of laying an eight inch sewer, under ordinary conditions is q.2) per lineal foo#. NOW, THEREFORE, • it resolved by the City Council of 'Hanoi, Florida, that it finds and determines that the cost per lineal foot of an eight inch -ewer under ordinary conditiona, is '1.20 per lineal foot.
