The Chairman wanted to Knot, of the Consulting Engineer if it would affect the contract uaranteeing the streets for five years, if the city tore up the street for a street car line. The Engineer replied that that was a legal question but he thought that it mild. The Chair announced that he understood Vat the ordinance granting a street car franchise, which had had two readings, would he withdrawn, and a new one introduced, and he would like to hear from those interested. 1 The Chairman eleo called attention to the fact that a meeting of Council had been celled by the Mayor for April 9th, and that there were only two councilmen showed up, himself ,Ind Mr. Filer. Councilmen Conrad explained that•he had been up with the Elks three nights and was about all in. Councilman Nomfh said that he was out of the city. The Chairman thought some action ought to be• taken in reference to the Mayor's call. Council discussed the interurban franchise for sometime, and most of the councilmen were of the opinion that'the only franchise naked for was about thirty years behind the time, which gave everything to the street eat company and nothing to the city. The Chairman advised +;'ouncil that as the original ordinance had been given two readinge, before another ordinanoe ordinance was introduced, this ordinance should be withdrawn. Moved by C.
