An Ordinance of the City Council of the City or Miami, fixing the amount of license taxes to be collected by the City of Miami, for each fiscal year, con- mincingr0etober 1st, 1913; providing for their, collection and prescribing penal..., ties for doing business in the city without first procuring • license. RE IT ORDAINED by the City Couneil of the City of "iami: Section 1. That it shall be unlawful for apy,person, firm or corporation to engage in, eonduet or manage the business, eeoupetion or profes- sion hereinafter mentioned, in the City of Miami unless a city lisenes shall have been first procured from the City Tax Collector, which license shall be issued to each person, firm or oorporation on receipt of the amount hereinafter provided, and shall be signed by the City Clerk and Colleotor, and attested by the seal of the city . No license shall be issued for mere than one year, and all licenses shall expire en the thirtieth_ day of September of each year; but fractional licenses may be issued, except as .hereinafter provided, to expire en said day at a proportionate rate estimating from the first day of the quarter in which the lisenae is so issued; provided that ne lisenss shall be issued for a less period than six months; and all licenses may be transferred, with the ap- pr,,val of the Mayor, with thsbusinsas for which they were teen out, where there is a bona -fide sale and transfer of the property used anti employed in the business, as stock in trade, but such transferred license shall not be held to be good for longer time or any ether place than for which it was eri.inally issued. Shutt', Smith h 'ewen, Attorneys for the Florida Fast Coset Railway Company, and on December 23rd I wrote them a letter, copy of which is hrete attached, and on the same date received their answer, espy of which is also attached hereto. I expect to hear from these gentlemen definitely before next regular meeting in January, but until railroad tenders a deed or *entreat clearly defining its requirements, it is unnecessary to prepare an ordinance Balling for a special election, for I assume that neither the City Ceuneil nor tne voters will want to vote a large bond issue by the City until they know in exaet terns what consideration they are is receive for any bonds t at may be issued and delivered. The Finance Cet!unitteeman said that they had enough money in the Sewer Bend fund to pry the tsntraetcr for installing sewer en Fifteenth Street, 450 ft. west from "D", and he would like authority to pay same. Crosland appeared before Ceuneil and asked that the lisense upon bee factories manufacturing twenty five tons or Hiss, be reduced to ' 25.00. Ceuneil advised Mr. Crosland that as the license had been fixed , they would have to deny his request, as they did net think the license an unreasonable one. The Committeeman en Streets advised council that there was a short piece of sewer that had to be sonstrueted on Twelfth Street to esnnset with the manhole en North River Drive, se as the paving could go en, and as this was an emergeneY sass, he had gotten bids from Adolph Freedlund and W.
