Gentlemen:
Each and every one of you are requ,-eted to be
present at a meeting of Council to be held tonight at 7;30 P.M. for the purpose of
canvassing the votes of the City Election held October 27th, and declari.g the nom-
inees elected. And also for the purpose of swearing in the gentlemen elected or
appointed fur the next two years or transacting any other business that may be
necessary.

The chair noted that co'aneil would now proceed to canvass the votes
of the general city election held October. 27th,1913.

Council proceeded to canvass the ”otes,after which the following notion
was made.
Moved by C.I{efty and seconded by J.A.'4cDonald that report of Inspectors
oe accepted and copied in the minutes. Motion carried.
Report of Inspectors.
We,the clerk and inspectors in the general city election held Octoer 27th,
1913, certify that there was cast in said election 298 'rotes,7 thrown out on account of
irregitlarities,leavi'tig a balance of 291votes. and that the following nahed candidates,
received the number of votes for the positions shown opposite their dames:
John W.Watson for 'Mayor - 245 votes.

It appearing in the minutes that the city attorney was requested to report
in referen .e to the five mill road tax due the city by the county for several years
pack, the chairman asked the attorney if he nad made such a report. The attorney
replied that he understood that the matter had been settled by declaring everything
off,and beginning to collect the tax this year,that this was the advice of the Mayor.
The .e was a dispute between the Mayor and the attorney in reference t i this matter,
but no report has been furnished.
The question came up about pipe being ordered for the high pressure system
the chairman claiming thatnobocty seemed to know who was respo Bible for it. And
fins lly sent for the Pire Chief to comeover and explain.The chief said thathe nad or-
dered the pipe on receiving a telegram from i!r . R ,rrfn ,who was in New work, advi sing
him to use his own judgment. It was decided to let the matter east till 'dr. Romfh
returns.
Thenext thing taken up was the swearing in of the elective oPricers for
the new term.
John W.Watson was sworn in as ' eyor of the City of Minrii by Paul (.Phillips
as a Notary Public. who administered the c)ath as prescribed by the charter. for a term
of two years.
The Mayor then administe ed the oath to Paul G.Phillips,as Municipal Judge
of the City of Miami, The mayor then administered the oath to W.o.Wnitman es Chief of
Police. The Mayor then administered the oath to T.A.Price, City assessor for the City
of Miami. The Mayor then administered the oath to W.P.Hoore,as City Clerk and Collec-
tor of tne City of L,ierni.
Street Committeeman Conrad not Pied council that he had purchased n mule
for the street department,ata price of ",1 5.00 ?Aso he had traded a horse whicn had
become useless to the city,for a nnrle,pay ng a difference of "135.00-
Moved by J.A.;:cDonald and seconded oy C.:,efty that the action of tne Com-
mitteeman on streets be approved.` ,otion carried.
The chair ordered a recess meeting till Honlay,No',ember 3rd,at 7;30
