Members present F.G.Erfert, F.P.F(olnee,C.Hefty, 0.A.Conrad, R.O.Watson, E.C.Romrri and •J.A.:•ScDonald. A communication was read from the civic sonnitee of colored t own, in Which they asked that couhsil pass an ordinance requiring ell &ildren to be in their nomds at 8 o'clock unless accompanied by parent or guardian. and that all immoral worsen be kept off the atreets,and that council ask all good women to refrain as much as possible from goring over tee after 9 o'clock at night., wi thout en escort. A communication was read from uessrs.triee and Railey in behalf of (J.F.Hollor- an,who operates two or three sight seeing cars in Miami during the winter, protesting against the raise in license on th-,se cars ,and asked that council fix the license the Same es it was last year. Couneilnan Conrad was in favor of reducing; the license to w5O each,after discussing it for same time,it was moved by C.Uefty and seconded by J.A.Conrad, that communication be received and filed. The Mayor advised council to.go slow in doing any work in this section before the streets were properly desirnated,and the maps had been completed and accepted by council. A petition was read from the residences of 19th ;street west of Avenue D to hRve lights put up between Avenue D and the Railway,alno eaking council to have removed the obstruction in 19th street between Avenue D and (; . Moved by C.Hefty and secnded by R.C.Romfh that petition be referred to committee men on streets to investigate. Motion carried. A petition from the r-aidents of Riverside was read asking council to install a system of sewerage over there,desii;nating a route for sewerage,Rccompanied by a map showing where they should be located. This petition was signed by about a hundred residents of that section. Moved by J.A.Conrad anti seconded by E.C.Romfh that petition be received and filed until eng1neers have coripleted survey. Motion carried. The ordinance in reference to the closing end opening of certain streets,near Buena vista was brought up for its third and final reading. Moved by d . A. Conrad and seconded by E. C.Romfh that ordinance be given its third and final reading and read in full. Motion carried . The chairr.aa instructed the clerk to read the olds for paving; witr. wood blocks,and asphalt. There was a bid tendered by the Creosoted Wood Block Ravin, Co. for wood blocks,and a bid from the Southern Asphalt (4.! Construction Co. for asphalt. These bids mere read by the clerk. The attorney for the city asked that council de- fer further action until he could look into the ma tter,as two things had been inject- ed into the bids,anl would ask council to adjourn this meeting until tomorrow nignt, e , he w,)ulri have time to look into thert,and render an opinion. Council Unformed the attorney that his request would he complied with. The chairman said as there was bids advertised for paving and sewers to oe opened at this meeting,the clerk would read them. Whereas,the City Council of the City of Miami has on September 4th,1917, duly lw»ied taxes for the several f'tnr'.s o? the City of Miami at tne following rates, respectively,such rates being sufficient to realize upon the assessed valuation of said City, amounting to $4,638,045.00, the ru'is respectively named after such rates,towit: For the General Fund, 10 milles, realizing $46,380.45 For the Repair and Internal Imp.Fund 6 mills, realizing $,27,e28.27 For the Hospital Find, 1 Mills, realizing $ 6,957.06 And whereas,puranant to Section 39 of the City Charter there have been issued and delivered Revenue Bonds of the City of Miami against pertain of the above na named funds, in the amounts and numbers now respectively named,towit: General Fund, numbered 1 to 5,both inclusive.
