Gentlemen:
Each one of you gentlemen are earnestly requested to meet
in Council Chamber tonight at 7;30 for the purpose of resolving bids for the construe
tion of the new work contemplated. or to attend to any other business in conneetion win
the same. .

The "Mayor was present and stated that he had called the meeting at the
request of several of the councilmen for the purpose al stated. and he would like to
ask the consulting engineer to explain the condition of the contract and give him any
other information necessary in that connection.
Mr. Hazelhurst explained the manner of letting the contraet,and everything
in connection with it. and stated that as all the bidders were present,,and if every
thing was not clear to them,he would be planed to give them any information desired -
in reference to the work.
The Mayor called the attention of the consulting ent<ineer,as to Ifiether
the bids offered tonight were to be the final bids,or could the bids be changed when
they were officially read.
Mr. Hazelhurst replied that the bide submitted tonight,would be final
but asked all the bidders if their bids were submitted as a final bid,or if any of
thenwould like the privilege of changing their bids.None of the bidders present
wanted to make any changes.
The chairman instructed the elerk to proceed and open the bids:

The Southern Asphalt & Construction Co. of Binuingham,Ala. bid on Aehp-
halt Block paving $155,067.5O.

The Southern Asphalt h Construction Co. of Birmingham,Ala. bid on ,e

Tte Cement Stone and Tile Co.

R.M.Hudson of Atlanta,Ga. bid on vitrified brick 1153.554.50.on wood bioek

The Creosoted Wood Block Paving Co.of New 0rleans,La. bid on wood blocks
$164,945.50.
Each of the five bids or the bids of the five different concerns, tendered
a certified check of 11,000 each along with their bid.

Moved by E. C.Ror.►fh and seconded by J .A.McDonald that all bids be referred
to the consulting engineer to be tabulated. Motion carried.
The chair ordered an adjournedent of council until Wedneaday night,Sept
3rd.1913. at 7;30 P.M.
