To the City Council,
Mlami,Fla.
I wish to say a few words in regard to
sulting with Mr . Moore, the City Clerk, I understand
dinances regulating the management of the institution
some questions as to who is in charge, some think Mr.
Dr. North, the Supt. and others the matron.
Gentlemen:
February 13,1^13.
the City rospital, after con -
there are little or no or -
,and I know there seems to be
Hefty, the Committeeman, some
I know further that there is more or less dissatisfaction as to the
ckarges, for the paid patients. therefore it seems to rye that it would be well to
pass a full and complete ordiran es nixing the duties aft responsibilities of those
in charge Rad connected with the hpspital, together with the prices to be charged,
all pay patients,etc.
We shoul pt the hospital on a high plane and try andrrake it an institution
all of us would be proud of.
I believe it wxild be a wise move on the part of the council to get about
one acre of land out about the Lawrence ririve or some good high pine land,to erect a
new modern hospital. The present site is not a good nae for a hospital and it is
entirely too valuable a piece of land, An two years more will be worth !25,0O0.00
this site could be sold enn the interest on the amount realized used to assist in
supporting the hospital.
I also understand that there is now on hand nearly $6000.00 for a new
hospital, and another large amount could and probably till be raised tris winter to
add to this, all of which, together with about •2000.00 from the city and 000.00.)
from the county ennu lly would properly maintain the institution.
waild suggest that you investigate this atter,an'i see what can he
done. I are sure you will have the hearty cooperation o' the ladies and prysicians of
Miami.
Yours truly,
'(Signed) ri.W.Wetson, Mayor.

received and the committeeman on sanitation be requesters to confer with the attorney

'Pr. ..A.McDo.'ald thought that it was ratner premature at the present time
and explained his position.
The Mayor offered several changes that he would advise to be made in the
city charter. These changes were discussed by council and it was the general opinion
that a committee should be appointed to investigate on changes and report back to
