To the City Council, Miami,Hlorida. Gentlemen: I hereby retu:•n to your Honorable Body, the deed from the Miami Beach Improvement Co. to the City of ',4iai .i, conveying a strip of land to the city for park purposes, together with an acknowledgment by the city, duly signed and approved by me, too the effect that the city accept the same,purs'.iant to a resolution to that effect, adopted by the city council Januar; l6tn, 1913. Motion carried. 7r. d.A.McDonald stated to council that the committeeman on Finance, was not able to be present to go over the bills,and "or that reason he would make tr.e following motion: Moved by J.A.McDonald and seconded by J.A.Conrad that all pills be held over to a recess meeting to be held later. Motion carried. Moved by E.F.Holmes and seconded by C.Mefty that all pay rolls be p,id when approved properly. Motion carried. The chair announced that if there were any present, he would like to hear from them in reference to the paving of Eighth Street from Avenue I to North River Drive, as this is the n1Ght advertised to hear complaints. P.L.Ryan asked that his assessment be reduced on account of tr.e city gettlhng the benefit of the rock and used it for building other streets. Moved by C.Hefty and seconded by 0.A.'.4cDonald that the request of P.L. Ryan be denied. Motion carried with E.F.Holmes voting no. Chief Chase requested council to pees en ordinance prohibiting the use of siren horns on automobiles. Moved by u.A.McDonald and seconded by C.Hefty that the city attorney be instructed to draft an ordinance prohibiting the use of any siren whistles. Motion carried. • Chief Chase brought to the attention of Council that his committeeman had put up the amount of license for the Johnny Jones shows, $13d2.60and that ae coun- 01 had agreed to refund this license, he would like a warrant drawn for that amount. Moved by J.A.McDonald and seconded by J.A.Conrad that warrant be drawn in favor of the Mia. 1 Fire department for $1382.50 for license purcnased fur the Johnny J.Jones ahowa. Motion carried. 169 The Fire Committeeman E. F. Iiolmes instructed Council that he had left the Frank Transfer Jo. have one of the fire horses for his feed,and $15.00 per month rent, as they had no use for them in the Fire Department. and he would advise that the other horse be turned over to'the Sanitary Department.'After discussing the horse prop osition for some time, it was lecicled that the city should keep both of them for ?utue future ue a. Moved by J.A.McDonald and seconded by J.A.Conrad that the two fire horses be retained,one turned over to the Sanitary Department,and the Frank Transfer Co. b e allowed to keep the other at $15.00 per month and feed,till the city wets him back.Motion carried. After again discussing the horse ptoposition,the following motion was made; Moved by F.F .Holmes and seconded by R.O.Watson that the former motion be e resinced. Upon roll call, all voted yes, motion carried. moved by ,'.A.McDonald and seconded by r.O.Watson that the city retain the two fire horaes,and one turned over to the Sanitary department, and the otner over to the street department. :ot on carried. Moved by h.P.Holmes and seconded by R.O.Watson that 1'500 be cre dited to the Fire Department for the two horses,and $250 be charged to the Sanitary Department and $250 to the Street Department. Motion carried. Councilman Hlefty brought to the attention of council the condition at the City Hospital . Moved by E.F.Holmes and seconded by R.O.Watson that any action of the Com- mitteeman in reference to the City Hospital be a proved. ''lotion carried. The manner of making out the Building Inspectorhs report was gone into and it would seem on his report that the name and amount of permits was not shown - names be Building Moved by J.A.McDenald and seconded by J.A.Conrad that in the future all inserted in list of permits, and the amountof cost of building be shown, in Inspector's report. Motion carried. The cemetery came up for discussion and it was shown by report Kolb that the city was owed for lots to the amount of about $490.00. After it for some time, the following motion was made: Moved by C.Hefty and seconded by R.O.Watson that the bills for the city purchased in the cemetery and not paid for, that bills bemade of turned over to the City Attorney for collection,and that all bills due for rendered at the City Hospital,be handled in the same way. Motion carried. The clrk notified council that he would like for them to pass on bills for feed at this meeting. The following bids were offered: Miami,Fla.Beb 6,1913. Hon City Council, Miami,Fla.
