Gentlemen:
There is being circulates for signatures, a petition asking the Florida
East Coast Railroad Company to sell the city of 'Miami a strip of land on the bay fn
front, for the purpo:.e of ereating City Docks thereon; this in my opinion, is a very
important matter, and on which, to a great extent, rests the future welfare of thi
city.
The policy of the TJ.S.c;overnment is to appropriete no more money for deep
water or harbor improvements anywhere, unless the City asking 'for it ownsits own
public docks, therefore I respectfully ask your Honorable Bony to officia lly
approve of, and endorse this petition,
Believing that the larger the petition the more favorably it wi!1 be
received, I would ask that you make some provision to have the petition well
circulates over the city for signatures.
I would suggest further thet you aut! o :ize the Mayor to appoint a
eo::.rnittee,not to exceed three, of Miami's business men to present the petition in
per. on.
With eigh regard i am,
Yours truly,
