a clause into they building ordinance requiring ell houses built in the future, to be
covered with fire proof material.

A co munication was read from the Texas Co. addressed to City N.ngineer
Frederick, in reference to paving some of the street;' with asphalt.

sideration when the city is in a financial condition to take up same. Motion caried.

in clue conformity with profile and specific tiona of said work and as same has been
inspected and approved by St. committeeman Conrad and myself, I recommend a cceptance
and payment for same,
In connection with this sewer I would recommend a catc basin be built

between the Avenue D. manhole and the Ice Factory on line of sewer leading from
the ice factory containing a trap of such size as necessary to hold the sediment

once a month. Thiamethod will e,imiate the trouble and expense the city has been put
to in tearing up and cleaning sewers.

Moved by J.F.Lummus and seconded by E.F.Holmes, that all owners of iota erne
embodied in the eport of the Sanitary Tnspector be served with a notice using the
regular form adopted by council forthese purposes„oredering them to connect with
the sewer. Motion carried.
J.F.Lunwua introduced the following ordinance. An ordinance vaoAting cer-
tain streets and highways in the city of Miami, Florida, And providing ''or the
dedication by the Florida bast Coast Railway Company, of a certain strip of land to
be used for highway purposes in lieu of the streets vacated, all for the purpose
of enabling said railway company to erect a railway depot in lieu of ir.s present
depot, and sanctioning and approving the removal and change of its present depot
facilities to the location herein provided for.
Moved.by E.F.Holmes and seconded by C.Hefty that ordinance as introduced
by councilman Lummua begin' en its first reading and read in full. Motion carried.

its second reading and read by title only. Motion carried.
The advisability of constructing a sewer on llth. :street from Avenue O.
to North River drive was discussed, after which the following motion was made.
Moved by .1.A.Conrad and seconded by E.F.Holmes, that bids be advertised for,for
the construction of a sewer on llth. Street from Avenue G to 375 feet west of Avene
H. Motion carried.
Street committeeman Conrad addressed council and recommended that 20th.
street be paved from Bririkella Avenue to the bay. After a discussion, the following
motion was made. Moved by E.F.Holmes and see nded by J.A.Conred thet 20th. Street
be paved from Brieke , is Avenue to the bay ad that city engineer make profile and
speeifieatiens and that bids be advertised for same. Motion carried.
Councilman McDonald recommended that the city purchase lets 1 and 2
in block 9 north, et a price of 400 for the two lots,
Moved by J.E.Lunmus and seconded by J.A.Conrad that the above lote be pur-
chased and that warrants be drawn in favor of the owner J.D.Bodman,fer 40O for te
two lots. Motion carried.
Chief Chase advised council that one of the horses in lit; department was
unfit for servico,and was no use to the department.,atating that he thought the
bestt ing te do was to dispose afhim, and that he was offered $125 for him.

Fire Department be turned over to the street department. Motion as ried.

Moved by J.A.Conrad and seconded by F..Holmes that the city engine r have
profile and speeifieatiens of 13th street From Avenue (3 to North River drive
made, and thatbids be advertised for pavingsame. Motion carried.
Council McDonald introduced the following ordinance:
An ordinance of the city of Miami, Florida, governing plumbers,
and regulating the plumbing trade, house drainage and sewerage, and the Inspection
of the same in pblic and private property and buildings in the city of Miami.
Creating the office of inspector of plumbing and the Board of Plumbing Commisaion-
era,and pr viding penalties for its violation.
