I hereby tender this my resignation es a member of your humble body
In doing so I find that it is inpoesible for me to devote the time that should
be given to the work. Since becoming a mer,b er of your body., I have
extended my business and my health is so bad, so that I now find that it -cakes
all nay time and in fairne, s to you, I feel that the course I' have taken is far the
best interest of the city.In severing my connection with you allow me
to express my sincere appreei tien of the honor that has been bestowed upon me
by electing me a members of your body and rest assured that it is with the great
est re lustanee th t 1 am compelled to resign' from your }tenorable Pody. Wishing
you evey success in your work for the beet interest of the city and always
essuring you of my eouprtion for the cities good.

A communication from the Mayor was read stating that in reply to his
communication of the llth. we referred back to him that it is his judgment
tat we a ould employ the men or extra policemen at least until the first of `,,fy
next. The tourist season will then be over, and by that time the discharged ex-
tension employees will probably have found their way north.
Moved by J.E.Luuruus and seconded by E.T .Holmes that th reeomendation of
the mayor be accep ed and appointments confirmed. Motion carried.

sewer on 6th. St. be awarded to J.D.Godman and 81lnch pipe to be used. Motion
carried.

Moved by J.E.Lummus and seconded by M.J.-cDr,nreld that in the event that
the Florida Fast Coast Ice Co. will pay $361.00 additional for retaining sewer,
on Gth. Street a 10 inch sewer may be liid at option of council. Motion esrried.
Moved by J.F.Lumi:us and seconded by C.iiefty that choke of uneu ocessful
bidders be returned to them. Motion carried.

Dear airs:
As it is neeessary in the proper discharge of my duties for nee to haw
a horse and bu ggy and as this horse and baggy is now furnished by myself and
is used exclusively inthe discharge of my official duties, I respectfully request
the council to anew me $25.00 per month to cover the cost of keeping and feeding
raid horse.

Moved by e.Hefty and seconded by J.E.Luminus that communication from Chief
of Police be filed and keg t for future action.
The ordinance regulating the storage and sale of oil, gas etc. was taken up
and thoroughly discuesed, after which it was decided by council to take this
matter up at an edjorned meeting of council next Tuesday night, January 23rd,1912.
Ceunoilman Conrad advised council that he had been approached by ell the
adjacent :kraut prope •ty owners on loth. St. from Avenue A. to Boulevard end
that they were very anxious to have the street paved and graded,and that they
were ready to put up their pro rata share of the cost.
The following motion was made:Moved by .1.A.Corad and seconded by C.Hefty
that bids be advertised for paving loth Street from Avenue A. to the Boulevard
and that city engineer make profile of same. Motion ca:•ried.
The Chair announced that the call for an election to deeide whether certain
territory should be annexed or not, had bten prepared by the city attorney,and it
was now in order to be acted upon. After discussing the same, the following motion
was made: 'loved by .i. F. Lummue and seconded by J. A. C,,nrad that the call for the
special election es submitted by the city attorneybe adopted, and copied in the
minutes, and published in accordance with low. Motion carried.

City Ordinance
An erdinenee providing for the annexation of certain described land and territoryt
to the city of Miami by incorporation and extension of the territorial limits of said
eity.
Be it ordianed by the city council of Miami,R'loride.
Sestion 1. That the following dessribed unincorporated traet of land contain
ing more than ten registered voters shall be annexed to the city of Miami,Florida,
towit:
Begin at the northeast corner. of the present city limits of Pftemi as designs%
ed in Chspter 5823 Laws of 1907, thence ryn northerly following the middle of Biscayne
Bay to a point 660 feet north of the south lino of section 19, township 53 south, rang
42 east, produced east, thence west through section 19 of township 53 south, range
42 east and sections 23 and 24 of township 53 south, range 41 east, paralleling the.
south line of the said sections and distant C50 feet north therefrom to the west line
of the southeast quarter of the southeast quarter o f section 23 of township 53 south,
range 41 east, thence south along the west line of the southeast quarter of southeast
quarter of section 23, township 53 south, range 41 east , and the west line of the eels
half of northeast quarter of section 26, township 53 south, range 41 east to the o
southwest corner theref,thenee east to the northeast corner of the southeast quarter C
of said section 26, thenee south followir.r the east line o,' the southeast quarter of

'plat of the city of Miami, thence east to the southwest corner of the present city
limits as designated in Chapter 5823 Laws of 1907, and that the territoryal limits of
said city of Miami be changed to -include the said described tract.
Sestion 2. This ordinance shall become effective upo its passage, approval
end pblieation, subject however to the voted* the registered voters of the City of
Miami, and of the tract of land above described at a special election which shall be
held for raid work on the 12th day of Xareh,1912, in assordanoe with section 1,075
of the General Statutes of the Stete of !'lorida for the year 1906.
Section 3.
All ordinanees or parts of ordinanees in sinflist herewith are
hereby repealed.
