Recess m eening caled to order by F.G.Erfert, Chair.,an. Members present : J.A.
Conrad, C.Hefty, F.G.Erfort and M.J.moDonald.
The following petitio was read:
City council of Miami,Fla.
Gentlemen:
We, the undersigned residents and property owners on 1S
19th- Street respectfully petition your Honorable body to have 19th. St between Avenue
D end Brickell Avenue graded and paved.

Moved by J.A.Conrad and seconded by M.J.McDonald that City engineer be in-
structed to make profile of 19th. St. between Ave. D and Brickell Avenue, and have
same atnext meeting of the council. Motion oarried.

of the City of Miami, . Fla.
Sirs:
The undersigned owners of improved lots abutting on 10th. Street and
en the Boulevard adjacent to said 10th. Street respectfully petition your Honorable
Body to authorize and order the grading of said loth. Street, form its interseotion
with Avenue "A" to its intersection with the Boulevard being 150 feet in length
and of en estimated cost of $200.
The prompt graduation of this short block will assure you the
immediate construction of 150 feet first-class side -walk adjacent to loth. street andt
the Boulevard.
We respectfully and urgently request your immediate action.

of loth. Street between Avenue A- and Boulevard, and leave same at next meetinf of cou*
council. Motion sa^ied.
A communiftion from the Mayor was read recommending that one Peter J.Cook a
poor old Confederate soldier, be given transportation to Jacksonville, as he is now
almost entirely blind and is stranded in town here without means to get book home
to Georgia, etatig thst if he c uld get as far as Jacksonville that he will be
eared for from there on.
Moved by J.A.Conrad and seconded by M.J.McDonald that the communication of
the Mayor be referred to Dr. North to procure transportation. Motion earried.

In the formal oomnunioation sent to your Honorable Body at its last
meeting by Mr. C.L.Huddleston, who was nominated as City Auditor, he declines the
appointment.
I would thereforenominate and appoint, subject to confirmation by yosr Honor-
able Body, Mr. B.F.Shopard of.this city to that postion.

received and filed for future reference. Motion carried.
City Council of Miami,Florida.
Would like to make propositio to you for the use of small lot on the
northwest side of Avenue D. bridge now leased by the City of Miami from the the
Fort Dallas Land Company for dock purposes. The proposition is this: I will build
and keep in gold repair the dock en west and south sides of lot for the use of lot
to be used as a place to unload sand and rock for buildingpur poses in the city.

Moved by C.Hefty and . seconded by M.J.McDonald, that bond be accepted and copied in
the minutes, and original copy be deposited with the Audi*or. Motion carried.

Florida, are hereby held arri firmly bound unto the city of Miami, a municipal cor-
poratio n exiting under the laws of the State of Florida in the sum of one thousand
dollars ($1,000,000 for the payment whereof, well and truly to be made, we hereby
bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, Jointly, severally and
firmly by these presents.

principal, J.L.Billingsley, has been duly elected to the o"fice of city attorney
of the City of Miami, Florida, ad it is required by ordinance of the said city that
the said sity attorney enter into a bond for the faithful performance of his
duties in such office.
New therefore, if the said principal, J.T,.Billingsle y shall well and truly
porter m all the duties of the said office of city attorney of the city of Miami,
to which he has been duly elected and upon the duties of which he has enter d , then
this obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and effect.

The chair advised council that at the lat meeting it was proposed to let
contract for sewers on Eighth and T irteenth Streets. After discussing the subject
theroug ly, the following motion was made:
Moved by M.J.McDonald and seconded by C.Hefty, that the sewer proposition be hell
over until next meeting, so as to give the city engineer time to prepare profile .
Motion carried.
Mr. J.A.Co nrad addressed .council showing the need of lights on Avenue D.
from 20th.to 25th. Street, also on corner of Avenue B. and first street, and one
in the middle of block between B. and C. and one between C. and D. onFirst, street.
Moved by M.J.McDonald, seconded by C.Hefty that the recommendation of the
oommitteemen on streets be accepted, and lightsordered placed. Motion carried.
Councilman McDonald addressed council showing the need of the bridge tender
hay ng police power, and recommending same.
Moved by C.Hefty end seconded by J.A.Conrad that the reoomnentatien of committe
man en sanitation, be referred to the committee on streets and sewers, to confer will
the Mayor as to the advisability of such procedure. Motion carried.
Committeemen McDonald addressed council in reference to the need of another teem
for his department.
Moved by J.A.Conrad and seconded by C.Hefty, that the sanitary committee man be
authoris d to purchase a mule, wagon and harness forhis department. motion carried.
The matter of annexation again came up for discussion. The following motion was
made: Moved by C.Hefty and seconded by J.A.Conrad that the chair appoint the commitb
previusly appointed and the city engineer and attorney to go over the lines proposed
and establish definite lines and report at the next meeting or couneil,and that the
City attorney have an ordinance prepared by thenext meeting to submit to the people
as to whether the proposed territory be annexed or not. Motion carried.
Moved by C.Hefty and seconded by M.J.MeDonald that council adjourn. Motiun
carried.
