Communication: St.Augustine,F1a.,March,23rd,1911. Mr.F:.S.Frederick,City Engineer, Miaml,Fla. Dear Sir -I beg to acknowledge receipt of your favor of March,titr,1911;and el>o,under seperate cover the profiles of Avenue "D",betw,-en 14th,anvi 15th,atreets end of the Royal Palm Spur Track. As neer as I can assert in fropi other sourc••s,your objectio1 to the present croe- eing is tni.t the paving used in getting acros, the Vies and rails cuts away and cau- ses a jar to the automobiles, all of which is probably true.h, To change the grade as proposed by you would not only beAexpensive metter, but would ceuse a very unsightly depression in the tracke at immediate place. If I am right in nay conclusion that it le to benefit the automobile trr•vel, how would it be if the approach to the tracks and ecroca them wee paved with vitrified brick, eey back for a distanc of 25 feet, eac') side of the track. In ordor that you may fully understand what we would have to do to adopt your grade, I am enclosing a profile as prepared in my office, teking the steepest allow- able grade on the spur track,w ich is LI.,it would necessitate the lowering and chant- ing of the spur track to the McDonald Lumber Company,in Addition to what i 0,41 a hole in the epur. Would be gatd to hear from you further on the subject, with return of the profile. Your truly, (Signed) ..Ten Carter,Supt.M.of W.
