I very respectfully ,,ek treat you obtain an appropriation from the City Counoif fo. which to purchase a team of horses for the steamer: In case of e fire in tne buss- ! rs,ss or Royal Palm district it would take at least fifteen minutes to g 't t:.e steamer in working order; where if we nd a team we could have it on tine spot end c.,«s:k a fire before it could get a good start. Our hydrant pressure during a fire is t.ev• my five pounds, et the water works end 1f w try to use ovor two streams it cuts the pressure down to where it does not "lave force enough to check a fire. There is always danger o' the nwins breekin.t when there is a pressure put on, in which case a fire would get a big start before we cod get the steamer. With a team we could always have tne 8tec,mer at all fires, then there would be no :Iced of a high pres- sure on tne mains. We could heve more streams and more pressure with the steamer than with a high pressure from the water -works. Yours eery truly, (Signed) H.P.Chare, C' ief.
