The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater Cultural Arts Complex mission is to promote and celebrate the rich black history and culture of the South Florida community, while providing training and jobs through programming at this regional tourist destination in Miami's historically black Overtown communitr. With the Historic Lyric Theater being the_ anchor and. driving force to the revival and redevelopment of this once -vibrant community, there has been significant growth and overall activity in this community through your work as Director. Your continued support allows for the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater to continue implementing programming that brings roughly 20,000 residents and tourist together in the Overtown annually. Through programming activities that range from entertainment, exhibitions, education, and research at the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater, we have been able to train and provide numerous Overtown residents with employment. We are pleased with the programming success supported by the SEOPW CRA, and would like to continue that success by increasing the activity at the Historic Lyric Theater to produce more positive media, resulting in more jobs for its residents. In effort to create the necessary programming that will serve as the catalyst for the revitalization of the "Little Broadway" era in the Southeast Overtown area, we have partnered with HipRockStar Advertising and Marketing Firm, which has changed the dynamic and public perception of Overtown through Black Archives activities, and now we are adding to programming by initiating a joint programming partnership with Headliner Market Group to reach a broader audience. This will enable the Black Archives to bolster our employment ability through year round programming and events at the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater for residents. In effort to fulfill this planned programming expansion, the Black Archives has outlined and requested a grant in the amount of 2.2 million (2,200,000.00) dollars from the SEOPW CRA based on the projected budget. This is needed subsidy as detailed through management studies of the target area for Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater operational needs, will increase quality programming, over more dates, with stronger community programming access to the facility, as well as include restoration work needed for the Historic Dorsey House. However, understanding the climate of securing public funds, we are open to adjusting our request to contend with the increased request funding. Our request is in three option (a) approval of the full request of funding ($2.2 mil), (b) reduced funding request which covers new extended programming request of ($1.628 mil), or (c) renewal of existing grant in the amount of ($765K). Be advised that option (c) does not included new additional year round programming that would increase residential hiring capacity building and additional programmatic. All options includes the restoration of the Historic D. A. Dorsey House. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you again for your continued support. cerely, imothy A.
