A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, ESTABLISHING THE FIRST
ANNUAL CITY OF MIAMI KARNIVAL ("MIAMI KARNIVAL 2025") TO BE HELD JUNE
8, 2025 ON 2ND AVENUE BETWEEN NORTHEAST 54TH STREET AND
NORTHEAST 62ND STREET IN THE CITY, TO EDUCATE AND CELEBRATE
CARIBBEAN CULTURE BY WELCOMING MASQUERADE TROUPES, ARTISTS TO A
PARADE, CONCERT, AND FESTIVAL ("EVENT"); FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
PROVISION OF IN -KIND SERVICES FROM THE DEPARTMENTS OF FIRE -RESCUE,
POLICE, SOLID WASTE, AND PARKS AND RECREATION IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000.00) FOR THE EVENT; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL
DOCUMENTS AND LEGAL INSTRUMENTS NECESSARY, ALL IN FORMS
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THE PURPOSE STATED HEREIN.

ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THE PURPOSE STATED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has a deep interest in supporting residents who
have an interest in and promoting Caribbean culture; and
WHEREAS, the City is dedicated to producing a safe, family -fun festival and multicultural
programming in an artistic atmosphere, fostering community pride and civic involvement among
persons of Caribbean descent, while promoting tourism for economic development; and
WHEREAS, the First Annual City of Miami Karnival ("Miami Karnival 2025") will be held
on June 8, 2025 on 2nd Avenue between Northeast 54t" Street and Northeast 62nd Street and is
anticipated to educate and celebrate Caribbean culture by welcoming masquerade troupes,
artists to a parade, concert(s), and a festival ("Event"); and
WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes the significance of hosting Miami Karnival
2025 in the City and wishes to express its financial commitment through in -kind support for the
Event; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager is requesting authority from the City Commission to
negotiate and execute any and all documents and legal instruments necessary, all in forms
acceptable to the City Attorney, for said Event;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The First Annual City of Miami Karnival ("Miami Karnival 2025") is hereby
established and will be held on June 8, 2025 on 2nd Avenue between Northeast 54th Street and
Northeast 62nd Street in the City.
Section 3. The provision of in -kind services from the Departments of Fire -Rescue,
Police, Solid Waste, and Parks and Recreation in an amount not to exceed Fifty Thousand
Dollars ($50,000.00) for Miami Karnival 2025 are hereby authorized.'
Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized1 to execute any and all documents and
legal instruments necessary, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, for said Purpose.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.

1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be
imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
