The Do The Right Thing Program (DIRT) is respectfully requesting a donation from the
Miami Police Department Law Enforcement Trust Fund in the amount of $170,000 for
the program's operating expenses based on the 2024-2025 school year.
From 1990-2015 DTRT received $130,000 annually from the Miami Police LETF. Since
2016, the program has not received any LETF money. Below is a summary of DTRT's
funding from Miami Police and the City of Miami throughout the program's history.

DTRT staff works diligently to raise funds including applying for grants and reaching
out to our corporate partners and other law enforcement agencies allowing us to impact
over 6,000 students in over 300 schools each year. Additionally, the program has
expanded its Officer Do Right and Pizza With A Cop initiatives, impacting 48 schools
across the City of Miami working with 11 Miami Police officers to provide monthly
opportunities for positive engagement between students and Miami Police. DTRT also
offers a full tuition scholarship to the Miami Police Academy each year and hosts an
annual Awards Night banquet with over 250 guests in attendance. The Do The Right
Thing Program is also a national and international program with 71 chapters, most
recently joined by the West Monroe Police Department in Louisiana.
The positive publicity generated from D 1'RT on a local, state, and national level is
invaluable to the Miami Police Department and the City of Miami. We look forward to
continuing to expand the program to further build trust between police and the
community, starting with our youth.
We truly appreciate your support of our program and thank you for your consideration
of this request. Should you have any questions, please contact me by calling 305-603-
