Women -In -Tech Training Proposal
Submitted by: CareerSource South Florida
Date: December 20, 2024
Executive Summary
The Women in Tech (WIT) program is designed to address gender disparities in Miami -Dade
County's tech sector. Despite the rapid growth of the industry, women are significantly
underrepresented in high -demand roles such as software developers, computer support specialists,
and programmers, with women comprising 30% or less of the workforce in 11 out of 16 key tech
occupations (Miami Tech Works Gap Analysis). While women dominate lower -skilled roles like
data entry (81%), these positions have a high turnover rate (94%), highlighting the need for
pathways to advanced, stable tech careers. Nationally, women make up only 20.3% of workers in
computer and mathematical roles and 15.5% in architecture and engineering, with persistent pay
gaps exceeding 10% (Opportunity Miami).
The WIT program will train 25 women in in -demand technical skills, such as Microsoft Azure
