GUILLERMO A. REVUELTA WAY"; HONORING HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OF MIAMI AND THE GREATER MIAMI AREA; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICIALS. WHEREAS, Reverend Guillermo A. Revuelta ("Reverend Revuelta") has made significant contributions to the City of Miami ("City") and the greater Miami area through his dedicated service and leadership; and WHEREAS, Reverend Revuelta's distinguished social and community service spans various organizations and leadership roles for decades, including his crucial roles in NALEO (National Association of Latin Elected and Appointed Officials), SALAD (Spanish American League Against Discrimination), and LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) Florida, where he served as Vice President and Chaplain; and WHEREAS, Reverend Revuelta's civic impact is evident in the numerous boards and committees where he has served, including the City's Planning Advisory Board (2003-2011) and Nuisance Abatement Board (1994-2003); and WHEREAS, on a community level, Reverend Revuelta has actively contributed to the Community Relations Board at both Miami -Dade County and the City and participated in committees such as the Miami -Dade County Public School General Obligation Bond Advisory Committee; and WHEREAS, Reverend Revuelta's work encompasses advocacy for rights and involvement in organizations like Fair Property Tax for All, CASAF (Cuban American Support and Aid Foundation), and the Evangelical Association of Pastors; and WHEREAS, Reverend Revuelta has been a cornerstone in the community, showcasing his dedication to well-being and justice through a broad spectrum of roles and responsibilities, and in 2024, he was awarded the President's Volunteer Service Award; and WHEREAS, Reverend Revuelta has been instrumental in organizing community events, such as food drives, health fairs, and educational workshops, which have provided essential services and support to underserved populations; and WHEREAS, Reverend Revuelta has mentored countless young leaders, fostering a spirit of civic engagement and social responsibility among the next generation; and WHEREAS, Reverend Revuelta's efforts have led to the establishment of various community programs aimed at improving the quality of life for residents, including initiatives focused on affordable housing, youth development, and senior services; and WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 14317, adopted on September 26, 2024, provides that the restrictions related to street co -designations contained in Section 54-137 of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida ("City Code"), may be waived by a four -fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote of the City Commissioners, or an unanimous vote of the quorum that exists because of either abstentions or vacancies resulting from resignation, death, suspension, or physical incapacitation; and WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission wishes to honor Reverend Revuelta's legacy and recognize his impact on the community by co -designating Northwest 15th Street from Northwest 33rd Avenue to Northwest 37th Avenue as "Rev. Guillermo A. Revuelta Way"; and WHEREAS, this co -designation will serve as a lasting tribute to Reverend Revuelta's enduring contributions and commitment to the betterment of the community; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. By a four -fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote of the City Commissioners, or an unanimous vote of the quorum that exists because of either abstentions or vacancies resulting from resignation, death, suspension, or physical incapacitation, the Miami City Commission hereby co -designates Northwest 15th Street from Northwest 33rd Avenue to Northwest 37th Avenue as "Rev. Guillermo A. Revuelta Way." Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, and Solid Waste; the Miami -Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works; the Miami -Dade County Commissioner of District 6; the United States Postal Service; and, if a State of Florida road, to the Florida Department of Transportation, District Six, for sign installation within the newly designated roadway.
