Since our founding in 2002, when voters approved the half -penny transportation surtax, CITT trustees have exerted fiduciary responsibility over $4.8 billion in surtax revenue. We are proud to showcase the results as we celebrate more than 20 years of progress in helping people get to where they need to go. Our job is far from over. Many more improvements are in planning and con- struction phases. One such improvement is the highly anticipated Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Program designed to help move people more fluidly across the county. As mobility continues to improve in Miami - Dade County, the CITT is committed to working with local governments and the community to enhance connectivity. We watch over all uses of the surtax revenue, including regular audits of funds distributed to both the county and municipalities for transportation and transit improvements. The CITT is committed to transparency to ensure public trust, participation and collaboration.
