A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI
("CITY") AND THE DEPARTMENT OF OFF-STREET PARKING D/B/A MIAMI
PARKING AUTHORITY ("MPA") FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OF COSTS IN
PROVIDING ADDITIONAL PARKING MANAGEMENT SERVICES.
WHEREAS, Miami Dade County ("County") provided hardware and software technology
to the Department of Off -Street Parking also known as Miami Parking Authority ("MPA") to issue
parking violation citations that occur within the City of Miami ("City") boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the County charged a $1.25 fee for each parking violation citation issued by
the MPA; and
WHEREAS, as of November 2024, the County will no longer provide the hardware and
software, as well as, no longer charge a $1.25 fee per citation; and
WHEREAS, the MPA has agreed to incur the costs to procure and maintain the
hardware and software technology necessary to continue issuing parking citations within the
City; and
WHEREAS, the City has agreed to reimburse the MPA for costs incurred in providing all
parking management services including the hardware and software necessary for issuing
citations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute an agreement, in a
form acceptable to the City Attorney, between the City and MPA, for reimbursement of costs in
providing additional parking management services.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be
imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
