City of Miami
District 1 Micro -Transit Initiative
Miami For Everyone Funds
Addendum Responses to Application
Organizational History and Background Information:
Freebee is a micro transit company that is app based and physically moves people through on -
demand, door-to-door electric transportation.
Founded in the City of Miami in 2012, Freebee provides first and last mile connectivity to move
residents and guests within the city without having to have a personal vehicle and now
operates in over 40 cities in Florida.
Beyond being a transit solution, it is also a very powerful economic development tool, driving
traffic to local business, through free advertising offered on our mobile platform.
Freebee helps take cars off the road, reduce traffic and carbon emissions and helps free up
limited parking availability.
Project/ Program Description:
The Freebee Electric Micro Transit Service aims to introduce a safe, sustainable, efficient, and free
transportation option to the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami. This project is designed to enhance
local mobility, support environmental goals, and boost economic activity within the community by
providing electric micro transit services that connect residents, visitors, and businesses.
Impact and Performance
Expected Outcomes
Improved Mobility:
Increased Accessibility: Freebee shuttles can provide residents and visitors with more
convenient transportation options, making it easier to access local amenities, services, and
public transportation hubs.
Reduced Traffic Congestion: By offering a free alternative to personal vehicles, Freebee can
help reduce the number of cars on the road, potentially alleviating traffic congestion in the
area.
Environmental Benefits:
Lower Emissions: The use of electric shuttles contributes to a reduction in greenhouse gas
emissions and air pollution, supporting Miami's sustainability goals.
Enhanced Urban Sustainability: Freebee's focus on eco-friendly transportation aligns with
broader efforts to make urban environments more sustainable.
Economic Impact:
Local Business Support: By providing transportation options that connect people to local
businesses, Freebee can help drive foot traffic and support the local economy.
Job Creation: The operation of the shuttle service can create job opportunities for drivers,
maintenance staff, and other roles within the organization.
Community Engagement: Enhanced Quality of Life: Improved transportation options can
contribute to a higher quality of life by making it easier for residents to get around and
participate in community activities.
Increased Inclusivity: Freebee's services can make transportation more accessible to
underserved populations, including those who may not have access to a personal vehicle.
Performance Measures
Ridership Metrics:
Total Ridership: Track the number of passengers using the service on a daily, weekly, and
monthly basis.
Passenger Satisfaction: Collect feedback through surveys and reviews to gauge overall
satisfaction with the service.
Operational Efficiency:
Service Reliability: Measure the punctuality and frequency of shuttle services to ensure they
meet scheduled times and provide consistent coverage.
Fleet Utilization: Monitor the usage of shuttles to optimize scheduling and operational
efficiency.
Environmental Impact:
Reduction in Emissions: Calculate the decrease in vehicle emissions resulting from the shift to
electric shuttles.
Energy Consumption: Assess the amount of energy used by the electric shuttles and the sources
of that energy (e.g., renewable versus non-renewable).
Economic and Community Impact:
Local Business Activity: Evaluate any changes in foot traffic and sales for businesses in the
Allapattah neighborhood.
Job Creation: Track the number of jobs created directly and indirectly through the service.
Accessibility and Equity:
Coverage Area: Assess the geographic coverage of the shuttle service to ensure it reaches key
areas and underserved parts of the neighborhood.
Equity Metrics: Evaluate how well the service meets the needs of diverse demographic groups,
including low-income and transit -dependent populations.
Explain how the City of Miami's Miami For Everyone funding will be utilized:
The funding will be used to pay for Freebee as a turn -key service meaning the City will pay for
the hours and days the vehicles are in service. Freebee buys and owns the vehicles, provides
training to and hires drivers. handles customer service among other things.
Entity/ Recipient -Additional Comments:
Freebee provides the city with a live dashboard with important information on ridership
demographics and other useful information that saves the city time and money not having to
go out and conduct costly transit studies that can take several months. All this while protecting
and maintaining rider privacy and integrity.
