It is respectfully recommended that the Miami City Commission adopt the attached
Resolution authorizing a contribution to the Amplify Community Resources, Inc., in
an amount not to exceed $25,000.00, allocating funds from the Police General Fund
Account Code No. 00001.191602.883000.0000.
Background of Item:
Amplify Community Resources, Inc. is designed to focus on enhancing mental health
outcomes for the youth of the community, using social -emotional learning techniques,
and its comprehensive, evidence -based curriculum including modules on relationship -
building with authority figures —including law enforcement —along with yoga and
mindfulness, nutrition, life skills, conflict resolution, financial literacy, arts & media, self -
care, and etiquette training.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE
ALLOCATION OF GRANT FUNDS FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI POLICE
DEPARTMENT ("POLICE") GENERAL FUND, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($25,000.00), TO AMPLIFY COMMUNITY
RESOURCES, INC., A FLORIDA NOT FOR PROFIT CORPORATION, FOR
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN PROVIDING A YOUTH EDUCATIONAL AND
DEVELOPMENT COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING IN THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY")
FOCUSING ON PROMOTING MENTAL, PHYSICAL, AND EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING
OF THE CITY'S YOUTH; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE POLICE GENERAL
FUND ACCOUNT CODE NO. 00001.191602.883000.0000; FURTHER AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS
NECESSARY, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID
PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, Amplify Community Resources, Inc., a Florida not for profit organization
("ACR"), is committed to the education and development of the youth within underserved
communities in the City of Miami ("City") to provide inspiration for success and positive life
changes; and
WHEREAS, ACR's youth programs are designed to focus on enhancing mental,
physical, and emotional outcomes to benefit the youth of the City; and
WHEREAS, ACR integrates social -emotional learning techniques and comprehensive,
evidence -based curriculum to provide positive life skills including relationship -building modules,
yoga and mindfulness, nutrition, life skills, conflict resolution, financial literacy, arts and media
education, self -care, and etiquette training; and
WHEREAS, ACR has also developed the Teen Talk Dialogue Sessions to address the
nationwide call for social justice and improved relations between law enforcement agencies and
community youths after several high -profile officer involved shootings to provide a platform for the
City's youth and officers of the Miami Police Department ("MPD") to engage and build positive
relationships; and
WHEREAS, MPD, in furtherance of its commitment to improving public safety within the
jurisdictional boundaries of the City, wishes to support ACR's objectives and provide financial
assistance for the provision of services to the City's underserved youth and build stronger, safer
communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
hereby adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to allocate funds, in an amount not to
exceed $25,000.00, from MPD's General Fund Account Code No. 00001.191602.883000.0000 to
ACS for financial assistance in providing a youth educational and development community
program in the City.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2
APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS:
1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it is passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
