HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-24-0219City of Miami Resolution R-24-0219 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 16185 Final Action Date: 6/18/2024 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FORTY NINE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED NINETY NINE DOLLARS ($49,999.00), IN THE FORM OF A SUBGRANT ("GRANT"), FROM FLORIDA INTRODUCES PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND NUTRITION TO YOUTH INCORPORATED ("FLIPANY") FOR A SUMMER CAMP PROGRAM AT MORNINGSIDE PARK TO BE HELD OVER EIGHT WEEKS BETWEEN JUNE 2024 AND AUGUST 2024 ("PROGRAM"); ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT TITLED "FLIPANY GRANT FOR SUMMER CAMP AT MORNINGSIDE PARK 2024 PROGRAM," TO ACCEPT THE GRANT; APPROPRIATING THE GRANT FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FORTY NINE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED NINETY NINE DOLLARS ($49,999.00); FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH FLIPANY, INCLUDING ANY AND ALL OTHER NECESSARY AMENDMENTS, EXTENSIONS, AND MODIFICATIONS, ALL IN FORMS ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, TO IMPLEMENT THE ACCEPTANCE OF AND COMPLIANCE WITH THE GRANT FOR SAID PURPOSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth Incorporated ("FLIPANY") is a Florida non-profit corporation founded to actively build health equity through comprehensive initiatives, including nutrition education, physical activity, healthy meals, and overall wellness; and WHEREAS, The Children's Trust has awarded a grant to FLIPANY to develop FLIPANY's Arts, Wellness, and Academics (AWA) summer camp, serving students in grades K- 8 to be held at four community locations in South Florida; and WHEREAS, FLIPANY wishes to subgrant the amount of Forty Nine Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Nine Dollars ($49,999.00) ("Grant Funds") to the City of Miami ("City") to support the implementation of the summer camp program at Morningside Park, which will serve 60 youth daily for eight weeks during the summer of 2024 ("Program"); and WHEREAS, the City will provide in kind services in the form of access to Morningside Park and staff support to collaboratively implement the Program with FLIPANY; and WHEREAS, the City Manager requests the authority to negotiate and execute an agreement with FLIPANY to accept the Grant and implement the Program in compliance with the requirements of the Grant; and City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File ID: 16185 (Revision:) Printed On: 7/31/2025 File ID: 16185 Enactment Number: R-24-0219 WHEREAS, the City Manager also requests the authority to establish a new Special Revenue Project titled "FLIPANY Grant for Summer Camp at Morningside Park 2024 Program" to accept and appropriate the Grant funding; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to accept the Grant from FLIPANY for the Program. Section 3. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: "FLIPANY Grant for Summer Camp at Morningside Park 2024 Program" RESOURCES: FLIPANY $49,999.00 APPROPRIATIONS: $49,999.00 Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute an agreement with FLIPANY, including any and all other necessary amendments, extensions, and modifications, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, to implement the acceptance of and compliance with the Grant for said purposes. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective upon its adoption and signature by the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: rge = . Wyy ng II[, C ty ttor -y 6/4/2024 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be imposed, including, but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions. 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
