A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION WAIVING THE TEN (10)
WEEK TEMPORARY EVENT LIMITATION PER YEAR FOR THE PUBLIC
PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1000 MACARTHUR CAUSEWAY, MIAMI, FLORIDA
PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 62/ARTICLE XIII/DIVISION 1/SECTION 62-
521(B)(4) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED,
TITLED "PLANNING AND ZONING/PLANNING AND ZONING APPROVAL FOR
TEMPORARY USES AND OCCUPANCIES; PERMIT REQUIRED/TEMPORARY
EVENT PERMITS/TEMPORARY EVENTS IN GENERAL", TO ALLOW FOR
RESERVE PADEL MIAMI EVENTS TO BE HELD FROM JUNE 19, 2024
THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2024.

WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-521(b)(3) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida,
as amended ("City Code"), provides, "[n]o more than two temporary events shall be permitted,
each for a maximum duration of two weeks, on private property per year. No more than ten
temporary events shall be permitted, each for a maximum duration of two weeks, on public
property per year, unless approved by the City Commission;" and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62-521(b)(4) of the City Code, the number of events
can be waived upon affirmative vote of the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, padel ball is a close cousin to tennis, racquetball, and squash and was
invented in Mexico in 1969; and
WHEREAS, the lessee at the public property located at 1000 MacArthur Causeway,
Miami, Florida ("Event Site") wishes to continue to host more padel ball events, training and
tournaments ("Events") over the already ten (10) events held this year; and
WHEREAS, Reserve Padel Miami has created pop-up courts in order to bring this new
game to Miami, both for residents as well as visitors; and
WHEREAS, the Event Site is already holding special events through Temporary Event
Permit ("TEP") Number (SEO-24-04-TEP-761 with Building Permit Process number
BD23002512001; and
WHEREAS, due to the success of Padel Reserve Events at the Event Site, the City
desires to continue said Events for the remainder of the year which requires a City Commission
waiver for the remaining twenty-eight (28) weeks from June 19, 2024 through December 31,
2024 for 11 and one half, two -week events; and
WHEREAS, the Event at the Event Site do require permits to be issued by the City of
Miami ("City") to ensure life -safety and quality of life issues and appropriate conditions may be
imposed on each permit; and

WHEREAS, the Event at the Event Site will be beneficial to the City's residents and
visitors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 62-521(b)(4) of the City Code, titled "Temporary Events
in General," the ten (10) temporary event per year per public property limitation is hereby
waived to allow the Event at the Event Site from June 19, 2024, through December 31, 2024.
Section 3. This Resolution does not waive any other requirements of the City Code,
including but not limited to, noise restrictions, applicable fees, inspections, and permits.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
