Subject: Accept FDOT Agreement - Replacement Transit Vehicles
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission, with attachment(s), authorizing the City
Manager to execute a Public Transportation Grant Agreement, in substantially the
attached form, between the City of Miami ("City") and the Florida Department of
Transportation ("FDOT"), accepting the State of Florida's contribution, in the amount of
$1,841,311.00, for capital funding for up to four (4) new replacement transit vehicles.
Background of Item:
In an effort to reduce vehicular congestion, improve pedestrian mobility, and
enhance transit service, within the City of Miami ("City"), the City wishes to replace
transit vehicles in the City's Trolley program. The Florida Department of Transportation
(FDOT) has programmed $1,841,311.00 of State of Florida funds, with no City match,
for Capital Funding for the proposed acquisition of transit vehicles. The City
Administration recommends entering into a PublicTransportation Grant Agreement for
said purpose.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
GRANT AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, BETWEEN THE
CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") AND THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
("FDOT"), ACCEPTING THE STATE OF FLORIDA'S CONTRIBUTION, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $1,841,311.00, FOR CAPITAL FUNDING FOR UP TO FOUR (4) NEW
REPLACEMENT TRANSIT VEHICLES.
WHEREAS, in an effort to reduce vehicular congestion, improve pedestrian mobility, and
enhance transit service, within the City of Miami ("City"), the City wishes to replace transit
vehicles in the City's Trolley program; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") has programmed
$1,841,311.00 of State of Florida ("State") funds, with no City match, for Capital Funding for the
proposed acquisition of transit vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the City Administration recommends entering into a Public
Transportation Grant Agreement ("Agreement"), in substantially the attached form, for said
purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the Agreement, in substantially
the attached form, between the City and FDOT.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to accept the State's contribution in the
amount of $1,841,311.00 for the operating costs associated with the Miami Trolley system.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2
