Eleven years ago, an important drainage element in the park was blocked by the installation of a sidewalk that runs parallel to the park's loop road. Due to this sidewalk, whenever it rains, the park's baseball and recreational fields are left flooded with pools of stagnating water that cannot drain due to the sidewalk blocking drainage. Fortunately, there are low cost, immediate solutions to this real problem. By adding simple drainage in this area, the City can economically and immediately resolve one Momingside Park's major flooding issues. Absent this solution, the park's only baseball field and its surrounding recreational fields will remain unusable for days after each rainstorm- a major issue as the City enters rainy season and summer break. There are also other areas within the park and surrounding streets that flood consistently that I want to bring to your attention especially as the Momingside Shoreline Project was approved last week. I am concemed with drainage in general in the park. Thank you for your continued support of Momingside Park and of this pocket item issue.
