HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-23-0205City of Miami Resolution R-23-0205 Legislation City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 13771 Final Action Date: 4/27/2023 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S), AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ALTER THE WESTBOUND LANE OF SOUTHWEST 26TH STREET BY CLOSING THAT PORTION OF THE WESTBOUND LANE OF SOUTHWEST 26TH STREET LOCATED BETWEEN THE MERGER OF THE WESTBOUND LANE OF SOUTHWEST 26TH STREET AND SOUTHWEST BOUND LANE OF SOUTHWEST 26TH LANE TO THE WEST AND THE POINT WHERE THE SOUTHSIDE BORDER OF THE WESTBOUND LANE OF SOUTHWEST 26TH STREET SEPARATES FROM THE NORTHSIDE BORDER OF THE EASTBOUND LANE OF SOUTHWEST 26TH STREET ON THE EAST AND WIDENING OF THE CURRENT EASTBOUND LANE OF SOUTHWEST 26TH STREET TO ALLOW FOR WESTBOUND TRAFFIC AT THE CURRENT MERGER OF THE SOUTHWEST 26TH STREET EASTBOUND LANE AND SOUTHWEST 26TH LANE'S SOUTHWEST BOUND LANE AS PART OF THE OFFICE OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT 40-B193522A DOG RUN PARK. SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Manolo Reyes WHEREAS, part of the improvements to Dog Run Park located at 2201 Southwest 26th Street ("Park") the City of Miami ("City") is making on -site roadway improvements redirecting traffic flow to allow for safer and more efficient pedestrian access to the Park; and WHEREAS, the City proposes to alter the westbound lane of Southwest 26th Street by closing the portion of the westbound lane located between the merger of the westbound lane of Southwest 26th Street and Southwest 22nd Avenue to the west and the point where the southside border of Southwest 26th Street westbound lane separates from the northside border of Southwest 26th Street's eastbound lane to the east; more particularly identified in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated; and WHEREAS, to allow for continued two-way traffic in the area, the City proposes to widen that portion of the eastbound lane of Southwest 26th Street that merges with Southwest 26th Lane to accommodate westbound traffic; and WHEREAS, the requested street alteration is integral to the roadway improvements that include removal and relocation of existing sidewalks, drainage improvements, traffic pavement markings and signage as part of Office of Capital Improvements ("OCI") Project 40-B193522A; and WHEREAS, the City Commission finds that it is in the best interest of the general welfare of the City and its inhabitants to grant the removal of a portion of the westbound lane of Southwest 26th Street as described hereinafter and deems it advisable to do so; City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File ID: 13771 (Revision:) Printed On: 7/1/2025 File ID: 13771 Enactment Number: R-23-0205 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to close that portion of the westbound lane of Southwest 26th Street, as more particularly identified in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated. Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to widen the current eastbound lane of Southwest 26th lane to accommodate two-way traffic. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
