Background of Item: Historically the City of Miami -Homeless Program has received funding from Miami Dade County through the Homeless Trust to assist the homeless families with children. providing temporary shelter (Hotel -Motel). In Fiscal Year 2022-2023, The Miami -Dade Homeless Trust ("Trust") desired to provide local funds the City of Miami ("City"), Homeless Assistance Program to provide the temporary Emergency Hotel/Motel accommodations for homeless families. WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed One Million Six Hundred Ninety Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and Zero Cents ($1.690.500.00) from Miami -Dade County through the Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust ("County") for the provision of temporary emergency Hotel/Motel accommodations for homeless families for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 ("Grant"); and WHEREAS, the City will utilize the Grant for its Homeless Services Division to provide temporary placement services (Hotel/Motel), food vouchers and transportation for homeless families; and WHEREAS it is appropriate for the City Manager to execute an agreement, in substantially the attached form ("Agreement") for the Grant and to establish a new special revenue project for the appropriation of the Grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Section 3. The following new Special Revenue Project is hereby established with resources for the same appropriated as described below: PROJECT TITLE: Emergency Hotel/Motel Placement Program, PC-2223-HTMT-1 RESOURCES: The Miami -Dade County Homeless Trust $1,690,500.00 APPROPRIATIONS: Provision of temporary emergency hotel/motel accommodations, for homeless families. $1,690,500.00 Section 4. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all amendments to the Agreement and documents necessary, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to implement and allocate the acceptance of the Grant. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.2 APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS: nd City Att©r ey 4/17/2023 2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
