Subject: Request & Accept - Conveyance of Land - Miamarina Fire Station
Purpose of Item:
A Resolution of the Miami City Commission, with attachments, authorizing the City
Manager to submit a request to Miami -Dade County ("County") for a public purpose
conveyance of a portion of certain County -owned land adjacent to the City's Miamarina
at Bayside identified in the aerial overlay attached hereto as Exhibit A ("Property") to the
City of Miami ("City") for use by the Department of Fire Rescue; further authorizing the
City Manager to accept the Property and to negotiate and execute such agreements,
applications, and other documents necessary to effectuate the conveyance of the
Property to the City, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney.
Background of Item:
Miami -Dade County ("County"), is the owner of a certain portion of property abutting the
north property line of City's Miamarina at Bayside and further identified in the aerial
overlay attached hereto as Exhibit A ("Property"). The City's Department of Fire Rescue
("Fire Department") put Fireboat FB15 into service in 2008 to serve as an all -hazards
response unit that responds to various emergencies, including fires, medical
emergencies, search and rescue missions, and cruise ship medical evacuation and
transport. Fireboat FB15 is currently located at the City's Miamarina at Bayside. Fire
Department personnel must be housed adjacent to the Fireboat to ensure acceptable
emergency response times. The Fire Department is currently utilizing a temporary
facility and requires a permanent location for the housing of staff necessary to operate
the Fireboat in an expedient manner upon an emergency event. The Fire Department
and the Department of Real Estate and Asset Management have reached out to the
County for the potential conveyance of the Property to the City for use by the Fire
Department. The acceptance of the Property by the City and the construction of a fire
station thereon is in the public's best interest.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT A REQUEST TO MIAMI-DADE
COUNTY ("COUNTY") FOR A PUBLIC PURPOSE CONVEYANCE OF A PORTION OF
CERTAIN COUNTY -OWNED LAND ADJACENT TO THE CITY OF MIAMI'S
MIAMARINA AT BAYSIDE, IDENTIFIED IN THE AERIAL OVERLAY ATTACHED AND
INCORPORATED AS EXHIBIT "A" ("PROPERTY"), TO THE CITY FOR USE BY THE
DEPARTMENT OF FIRE RESCUE; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ACCEPT THE PROPERTY AND TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE SUCH
AGREEMENTS, APPLICATIONS, AND OTHER DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THE CONVEYANCE OF THE PROPERTY TO THE CITY, ALL IN
FORMS ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY.
WHEREAS, Miami -Dade County ("County"), is the owner of a certain portion of property

WHEREAS, the Fire Department and the Department of Real Estate and Asset
Management have contacted the County for the potential conveyance of the Property to the City
for use by the Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the acceptance of the Property by the City and the construction of a fire
station thereon is in the public's best interest;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized' to submit a request to the County for
the conveyance of a portion of the Property to the City for use by the Fire Department.
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute such
agreements, applications, and other documents necessary to effectuate the conveyance of the
property to the City, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
