WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") has been awarded a grant in the amount of $1,173,322.73 ("Grant") for the period beginning September 22, 2022, through September 21, 2024, from the Federal Emergency Management Agency ("FEMA"), United States Department of Homeland Security("DHS"), Grants Program Directorate ("GPD"); and WHEREAS, as stipulated in the Grant, the Department of Fire -Rescue will utilize said funds to deliver 20 hours of standardized Safety and Survival Training to 796 members and to purchase supplies and materials for the construction of fire scenario props to be utilized for said training; and WHEREAS, the Grant requires matching funds from the City in the amount of $117,332.27; and WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Commission to authorize the City Manager to accept the Grant, establish a Special Revenue Account, and further authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute any and all necessary documents, including amendments, renewals, and extensions, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to implement the acceptance and compliance with said Grant; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to accept the Grant in the amount of $1,173,322.73 from FEMA. Section 3. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are appropriated as described below: FUND TITLE: Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program Fiscal Year 2021 RESOURCES: FEMA, DHS, GPD $1,173,322.73 City Matching Funds from Acct. # 11000.184010.481000.0000.00000 $117, 332.27 APPROPRIATIONS: $1,290,655.00 Section 4. This appropriation is contingent upon final Grant approval by FEMA, DHS, and the City Manager's acceptance thereof. Section 5. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all necessary documents, including amendments, renewals, and extensions, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, in order to implement the acceptance and compliance with the Grant. Section 6. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
