ACCEPTING AN ADDITIONAL GRANT OF HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER ("HCV")
PROGRAM FUNDS, FOR FISCAL YEAR 2022-2023, IN THE AMOUNT OF $91,665.00
FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT ("HUD"); TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO VERY LOW-INCOME
FAMILIES, THE ELDERLY, AND THE DISABLED TO AFFORD DECENT, SAFE, AND
SANITARY HOUSING; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, ALL IN A FORM
ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, AS MAY BE NECESSARY FOR SAID
PURPOSE.
Background of Item:
On September 23, 2022, the City of Miami's ("City") Department of Housing and
Community Development was awarded an additional grant in the total amount of
$91,665.00 for Fiscal Year ("FY") 2022-2023 under the Housing Choice Voucher
program ("Program").
The program provides stability and safe housing to the most vulnerable residents in the
City.
The Program also encourages partnerships with health and human services agencies
with a demonstrated capacity to coordinate voluntary services and support to enable
individuals to live independently in the community.
The City's Administration recommends the acceptance of Program funds for FY 2022-
2023 in the total amount of $91,665.00 from the United States Department of Housing
and Urban Development ("HUD").

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ACCEPTING AN ADDITIONAL
GRANT OF HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM FUNDS, FOR FISCAL YEAR
2022-2023, IN THE AMOUNT OF $91,665.00 FROM THE UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, TO PROVIDE
ASSISTANCE TO VERY LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS, ELDERLY PERSONS, AND
DISABLED PERSONS TO AFFORD DECENT, SAFE, AND SANITARY HOUSING;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY,
FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, on September 23, 2022 the City of Miami's ("City") Department of Housing
and Community Development was awarded an additional grant in the amount of $91,665.00 for
Fiscal Year ("FY") 2022-2023 under the Housing Choice Voucher Program ("Program"); and
WHEREAS, the Program provides stability and safe housing to the most vulnerable
residents in the City; and
WHEREAS, the Program also encourages partnerships with health and human services
agencies with a demonstrated capacity to coordinate voluntary services and support to enable
individuals to live independently in the community; and
WHEREAS, the City's Administration recommends the acceptance of Program funds for
FY 2022-2023 in the total amount of $91,665.00 from the United States Department of Housing
and Urban Development ("HUD");
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The acceptance of Program funds for FY 2022-2023 in the total amount of
$91,665.00 from HUD to provide assistance to very low-income households, elderly persons,
and disabled persons to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing, is authorized.1
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2
1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be
imposed, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.

2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
