REAGAN PARK"; AMENDING CHAPTER 38/ARTICLE I OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, TITLED "PARKS AND RECREATION/IN GENERAL", BY CREATING SECTION 38-31, TITLED "NAMING OF RONALD W. REAGAN PARK"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL ACTIONS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE NAMING OF THE PARK; CONTAINING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN IMMEDIATE EFFECTIVE DATE. SPONSOR(S): Commissioner Alex Diaz de la Portilla, Commissioner Ken Russell, Commissioner Joe Carollo, Commissioner Manolo Reyes, Commissioner Christine King WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") owns a parcel of land consisting of approximately 261,360 square feet located at 2304 Northwest 14th Street, Miami, Florida, which is currently known as PBA Fern Isle Park ("Park"); and WHEREAS, the City recently completed renovations to the Park; and WHEREAS, Ronald W. Reagan ("President Reagan") served as the 40th President of the United States from 1981 to 1989; and WHEREAS, his presidency boosted American morale, reinvigorated the United States economy, and reduced reliance on government; and WHEREAS, President Reagan held one of the highest approval ratings for departing presidents in the modern era with a 68% approval rate when he left office in 1989; and WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to honor President Reagan; and WHEREAS, the City Commission has determined that it is appropriate for the Park to be named "Ronald W. Reagan Park"; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Chapter 38/Article I of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, is further amended as follows:1 "CHAPTER 38 PARKS AND RECREATION ARTICLE I. IN GENERAL Sec. 38-31. Naming of Ronald W. Reagan Park. a. The parcel of land consisting of approximately 261,360 square feet located at 2304 Northwest 14th Street, Miami, Florida shall be named the "Ronald W. Reagan Park." *„ Section 3. The City Manager is directed to take any and all actions necessary to effectuate the naming of the Park. Section 4. If any section, part of a section, paragraph, clause, phrase, or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 5.
