Biscayne Blvd is a State controlled road and the stormwater system at this area is managed by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). - Area of Biscayne Blvd is currently under construction as part of the 1-395 improvements and recurrent flooding issues have been referred to FDOT's Construction and Maintenance offices to provide corrective measures. - City provided FDOT permitting process information for emergency pumping - FDOT has outfall partially blocked in order to reduce illicit SW 8 Avenue — Riverside Park area Flooding was reported in the area of SW 8 Avenue, from SW 2 Street to SW 4 Street. SW 8 AVE is maintained by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). RPW investigated the flooding issues in the surrounding area and the area is served by the City's Lawrence Pump Stations. Inspect the entire system to ensure screens are installed at any pending inlets. Coordinate with FDOT to have screens installed on the SW 8 Avenue curb inlets connected to the Lawrence pump station collection system. RPW will follow up with the Solid Waste Department to adjust street sweeping. ADDITIONAL ACTIONS • RPW will inspect the systems connected to major pump stations to ensure that inlet protective screens are installed at all inlets. • An additional four temporary pumps and 1600 linear feet of hose have been ordered and should arrive within 90-120 days. • Heavy Duty hoses for the smaller 2" pumps have been procured to better withstand vehicular traffic. • In the event of severe flooding of roadways, RPW will coordinate with Miami Police to close streets to avoid damage to emergency equipment and allow for more efficient emergency operations when needed. • Two vacuum (vactor) trucks were ordered last year and are due for delivery in July and September 2022. Three additional back up pumps were ordered last year and put into service with this storm. • Staff/Contractors may be assigned to physically be present at major pumps stations during a storm event to ensure operations. • Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems in order to remotely monitor and control major pumps will be procured and additional funding has been requested for next fiscal year. All pump stations have been evaluated for necessary retrofits. • RPW has requested the basins that are connected to major pump stations be swept on a regular basis be the Solid Waste Department's Street sweepers. Basin maps have been provided for their use. • Assistance from MDC/ FDOT in performing street sweeping of their roadways or providing the city with funds for street sweeping. These tasks are recorded in Cartegraph so that when looking at any particular asset, one can see the history of activities performed. • Tasks can be created, edited (fill out the fields) and completed on a desktop, laptop or tablet. RPW can create a series of proactive tasks based on a maintenance schedule or create a task while out on the field as a reactive activity. Multiple tasks can be created by selecting a group of structures in an area, such as a maintenance grid and assigned to specific inspectors.
