A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A PUBLIC
TRANSPORTATION GRANT AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE
ATTACHED FORM, BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") AND THE
FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ("FDOT"); ACCEPTING THE
STATE OF FLORIDA'S CONTRIBUTION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,180,000.00,
FOR CAPITAL FUNDING FOR ADDITIONAL TRANSIT VEHICLES.
WHEREAS, in an effort to reduce vehicular congestion, improve pedestrian mobility, and
enhance transit service within the City of Miami ("City"), the City wishes to add transit vehicles
to the City's trolley program; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") has programmed
$1,180,000.00 of State of Florida ("State") funds for capital funding for the proposed acquisition
of transit vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the City is required to enter into a Public Transportation Grant Agreement
("Agreement") with FDOT, in substantially the attached form attached and incorporated as
Exhibit "A", for said purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to execute the Agreement, in substantially
the attached form, between the City and FDOT.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to accept the State's contribution in the
amount of $1,180,000.00 for costs associated with the City trolley system.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2
1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be
imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto of the City Commission.
