Background of Item: On April 20, 2017, the City of Miami and Miami -Dade County entered into a three (3) year Interlocal agreement, which authorized the City to enforce the for -hire transportation regulations. That agreement expired April 20, 2020; therefore, to continue this venture between the City and the County, a renewal agreement must be executed for an additional one (1) year period with automatic renewals for two (2) successive periods of one (1) year each. The Interlocal Agreement authorizes the City to enforce specific Sections and Articles of Chapters 4 and 31 of the Code of Miami - Dade County, which encompasses taxicabs, limousines, passenger motor carriers, chauffeurs, special transportation service, transportation network entities and private school buses. WHEREAS, on April 20, 2017, the City of Miami ("City") and Miami -Dade County ("County") entered into a three (3) year interlocal agreement ("Agreement") pursuant to Resolution No. R-16-0510 authorizing the City to enforce the for -hire transportation regulations codified in the Code of Miami -Dade County, as amended ("County Code"); and WHEREAS, the Agreement has terminated; and WHEREAS, the City desires to continue participating in the enforcement of for -hire transportation regulations via a renewed Interlocal Agreement, attached and incorporated as Exhibit "A", that authorizes the City to enforce specific sections of Chapters 4 and 31 of the County Code, which encompasses taxicabs, limousines, passenger motor carriers, chauffeurs, special transportation service, transportation network entities, and private school buses; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are hereby adopted by reference thereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to execute an Interlocal Agreement, in substantially the attached form, between the City and County for a period of one (1) year with automatic renewals of two (2) successive one (1) year periods for the purpose of participating in the enforcement of for -hire transportation regulations of Chapters 4 and 31 of the County Code. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. 1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be imposed, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code provisions.
