You know that no one in Edgewater wants
this - please stop the casinos and do what
your constituents want, not like you did
when you picked the downtown bridge
design you wanted, not the one that the
public chose. Do the right thing...

Traer a nuestra ciudad una sala de Poker y Jai

opportunities and create more revenue.
Expanding our city and bringing more
entertainment. Also providing police
presence is very important for our
neighborhoods to remain safe.
This project is about protecting the character
of the neighborhood, improving the quality
of life and better housing options for
residents. It will improve the security of this
area and will also bring new opportunities for
small business. I hope that the City see's our
vision, what we try to accomplish with NRD2,
and will help us to make our neighborhood a
better version of what it is today.
This is for the Proposed Casino on 3oth
Street of Biscayne Blvd. As an owner and
resident on Biscayne and 36th Street, I am
against having a Casino. We do not have the
infrastructure to allow this type of
entertainment and this neighborhood has
become a residential area. Casinos belong in
a non-residential area of town. I vote against
it!!!
This is a great opportunity for our city to
increase revenue and have more police
presence in our neighborhoods. By increasing
the city revenue then we can improve on a
lot of issues that we currently have.
The proposed Poker Room and Jai -Alai
fronton would be one of the most amazing
things that could happen to Edgewater. I am
living proof of all the benefits similar
establishments like this one can provide. The
peace of mind I've had of being able to work
close to home and establish myself in one
place for the past 12 years is something I am
beyond Thankful for. Why wouldn't our
commissioners want to provide the same
opportunity for the people they serve? Not
to mention the added security and police
presence a place like this would provide. I
have never felt safer at work. I don't see
anyone but the citizens losing on this one if
this doesn't pass. Jai -Alai is a wonderful sport
with a lot of history and it would be a shame
not to let it flourish in our city. Jai -Alai has
given a second chance to many local athletes
and the stories and camaraderie it's created
is wonderful to watch. Furthermore, a poker
Room isn't going to deteriorate this area!
Quite the contrary, it will give citizens a safe

in history. I don't believe or see this as
"gambling" or something that's going to
cause debauchery of any sort. It's going to be
an establishment like any other with

The infrastructure of Miami would not be
able to handle the amount of the traffic that
a casino will bring. Traffic on Biscayne is
already horrible and will only get worse as
new high rises come up and worse with a
casino.
The committee will benefit greatly from this
venue, think of law enforcement presence
and employment this will bring to the
community, along with benefits to the
workers. I urge you to please grant pathway
to this business. Thank you.
RE: PZ.6 7232 Department of Planning I am in
favor of the proposed bed and breakfast idea
for redevelopment as a transition between
the future Playhouse (and potential parking
garage) and the residential neighborhood of
the Grove. What I do not want is a bait -and -
switch for another type of commercial
development which would not be in
harmony with the neighborhood. Parcel 3270
William (westernmost) should not be
included in the rezoning as it will change the
zoning behind an abutting residential
property. Height restrictions should be
included, as should conditions on the
compatibility of the architectural style.
Stirrup House is a very different appearance
than what is shown in the early architectural
renderings, and this should be carefully
considered in future UDRB hearings. Thank
you for your time.

People are going to gamble if legal or not.
The arguments against legalizing have been
disproven over the 50+ years that Disney and
others have been hiding behind in the name
of their own profits. Miami should stop
pandering to owners of car dealerships who
are among the least trusted for their
predatory and complete absence of
TRASNPARENCY business practices. These
are NOT leaders of the community and they
do not represent anything other than an old
and outdated mentality, and their self
interests. Gambling obviously already exists
here in many forms, and telling tax paying
citizens exactly which way the can and
cannot gamble is unamerican, fascist, and a
complete smoke screen from today's reality.

casino or hotel/casino??? Not even close.
Not interested in having a casino near the old
Miami Herald building. We already have a
problem with traffic and crime. Families are
increasingly moving into the downtown
area —casinos and the types of people they
will bring will undermine Miami being a
family friendly city for residents (and family
tourists for that matter).
No good comes with a casino in Edgewater.
Adds to the traffic & crime.
No casino built on 30th St.
NOOO to the proposed casino at Biscayne
Blvd and NE 30th Street!!!
More jobs On duty officers present More
tourists
More business needed in the Edgewater
area, this is an opportunity for another
source of jobs and the increase of the
security that it will bring
Miami and Miami Beach do NOT need
casinos. For those who want to gamble,
there are already two world class casinos in
South Florida. And the economic benefits of
opening casinos would be short lived. The
cities, particularly Miami Beach, are already
suffering tremendously from destructive
tourism (as illustrated by the need to impose
curfews). Allowing casinos, including in the
northern part of Collins and in Edgewater as
some plan, will further expand the dangerous
zone and suffocate our vibrant cities with
further criminal activities and disorder. We
did not want the crowd that casinos attract!
They can go to Vegas or Atlantic City. Miami
has so much more to offer! Could elected
official focus on rebuilding the cachet and
personalities of Miami and Miami Beach and
attract the right type of tourism instead? Can
elected officials focus on bringing businesses
that build growing economies? The efforts
around supporting Tech entrepreneurs and
bringing financial firms are going in the right
direction. This how we will grow the greater
Miami into of world class destination (not by
bringing casinos and attracting more riff raff);
let's double down on that! Residents DO NOT
want casinos and instead need order to be
brought back to the cities. Safety and civility
is what needs to be restored... we have
enough entertainment as it is.

Makes the area safer
It's okay with me to build a poker room and
fronton there.
I would like to comment that I oppose the
proposed plan to build a casino on biscayne
Blvd and 30 st. I'm a resident on biscayne
and 36th and this type of business will
increase already difficult traffic situation. It
would also change the community sense that
we all share in the neighborhood. There are
better areas in more commercial zones to
build such business, not in the middle of
residential buildings with families.
I think this is an epically bad idea. Places
where people can gamble attract the dregs
of society and there is no recourse for people
who are addicted to gambling and spend all
their resources there. There are better
entertainment venues out there that would
actually be better for the community. Such
establishments, namely the company who
want to open this one, pay their employees
very small wages. They collect a lot of profits
while denying their employees a living wage
and raises. Increased security and police
presence on the property will not actually
have any impact on the community. The
security can not function off the property.
And the police are usually off duty and there
on overtime just performing duties on the
property. They provide no benefit to the
community and can not provide police
services in the surrounding community.
There is no added improvement to the
neighborhood by opening this establishment.
I speak as someone with an establishment
near my home and as someone who has
worked in that industry.
I think it would be an awesome and amazing
opportunity to bring in much needed jobs
and security within the area especially in
these though time where jobs have become
so scarce.

I think it would be a good idea to open a
poker room in Edgewater because it would
create more jobs for people in Miami.
I support the of adding more entertainment
to our city. I also believe that this will bring
more jobs to our city and create more
revenue. Also brings a presence of security
and police presence.
I support the idea of opening a Jai Alai
fronton to help the city feel safer, but also to
help many people find work.
I support the idea of opening a Jai Alai

I support the idea of opening a high-level
poker room and a Jai Alai fronton, That helps
create new good jobs for Miami residents,
reducing unemployment. Makes the area
safer, due to the greater presence of security
and police The tourist flow increases in
Miami, remember that we are basically a
tourist city. Another Edgewater

I support the idea of opening a High -End

good paying jobs for Miami residents. In
addition, it will make the area safer.

I support the idea because it will bring new
jobs and more tourism. and it will be a safer
city.
I support the high end poker. It will mean
more job in this time of need
I support opening a high end Jai -Alai Fronton
and Poker Room in Edgewater. The citizens
could use a good, safe place to work and
play. Jai -Alai and Poker are wonderful forms
of entertainment. There isn't anything
"seedy" or degrading about a place like this.
(It's nothing like their asking to open another
strip club! Like we could really use another
one of those around here -_-) It's all pros for
the city and it's citizens if you ask me. More
tax revenue which can be used to fund other
things the city may have wanted to fix but
didn't have the money to. Plus more citizens
working will allow even more money to
circulate. Don't understand what the
objection to this is. It's a win/win. Allow
them to put the Jai -Alai fronton and Poker
Room in Edgewater. It's going to be great!
I like casinos and I think a new one will create
more jobs and more opportunities for people
with lower job titles to move up.
I feel there are so many ways to do business
in a community and gambling is not needed
and does not help a community. I want a
ban on gambling.
I do support the idea and it creates new jobs
which is better for the economy with so
many out of work.
I do not support any casino and gambling
activity in Miami and Miami Beach
I do not approve of allowing the proposed
casino in this neighborhood. It has taken
many years to revitalize this area, and these
types of establishments historically hurt
neighborhoods. With the number of families
that have moved into the area, along with all
of the beautiful development, this would
seem to set us back decades. Gambling can
be an addiction and should not be something
further promoted. The results of this vote

will certainly help my decision making at the
ballot box.
I believe that this will bring more jobs and
revenue to our city. Having more
entertainment in our area can bring more
tourism and help the city.
I am in favor of opening a High -End Poker
Room and Jai -Alai Fronton in Edgewater. It
will provide numerous much needed jobs in
the future for when things normalize a bit
and people start looking for work. The added
jobs and revenue for the city of Edgewater is
a definite plus. The added Security and Police
presence ensures a safer area at the facility
and the surrounding area in general. All in all
adding a new entertainment venue which
will bring in a new revenue stream and
added Security to the area will improve the
neighborhood of Edgewater.
I am against the proposition of approving
gambling in Edgewater. Please deny this
request.
I am a proud property owner in Edgewater
and DO NOT WANT THE CASINO IN MY
NEIGHBORHOOD. I work for a living and will
not be able to attend the commission
meeting tomorrow but I want to express my
grave concerns regarding a casino in my
neighborhood. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THAT

I am Sophie Ringel, the founder of Clean
Miami Beach, a non-profit organization that
is conducting weekly shoreline cleanups in
the county. A second goal for this
organization is to educate participants about
the negative impact that plastic has on the
environment. A neighbor notified me in
February 2021 about a devastating and
disastrous situation on Biscayne Bay. On
March 1, 2021, the two of us witnessed
firsthand severe and shocking plastic
pollution at 788 NE 23rd St, Miami, 33137. It
is important to our community and
environment that you realize the severity
and the amount of ocean debris in our
beloved Biscayne Bay. I raise my concern
about this environmental disaster as a
resident and also as the founder of Clean
Miami Beach. This situation demands your
immediate attention. The City of Miami, the
City of Miami Beach, and Miami Dade County
require much stronger litter regulations. This
includes bans on all single -use plastics, the
installment of gutters on all storm drains,
and a dedicated enforcement of these
regulations. Thank you.

and Public Works alongside the Miami River
marine industry, city waterfront businesses,
property owners and others has resulted in a
closer scientific review and engineering
evaluation of the unique characteristics of
the Miami River's geography; its specific tidal
and geohydrology conditions; the relatively
small/narrow waterfront property; abutting
3300 NW North upland roadways; and, the broad/varied uses

Having more entertainment will bring more
attraction to our city causing it to increase
our revenue so that we can implement more
workers. Making more job available in our
community will make our city progress.
Good for the community, more jobs, more
police presence.
Good evening And thank you for taking the
time to read my comments. I want to
articulate and explain why I think a poker
room and Jai -Alai fronton should be placed
in Edgewater Community. First thing it will
provide jobs for the people who are
struggling to find a good job with a
respectable wage in the Edgewater
community. It also can increase security and
police presence that would benefit the
relationship between the community and the
police. I've been tracking the process of this
move to Edgewater and I've been reinsure
that it will not be a casino but just high end
poker room with a Jai -Alai fronton. The
building will never have slot machines or
other casino games. It will also increase the
tax revenue in the city and that can promote
improvement in the Edgewater
neighborhoods. So I truly support the idea to
put high end poker and Jai -Alai in the city of
Edgewater. Thank you again for taking the
time to read my comment
Good afternoon City Commissioners, I am
submitting this comment card today to urge
you all to implement Resolution R.E. 1 in
order to solidify our upcoming 2021
Municipal Election Dates. However, I would
like to request that our City Commission
discuss and also vote to mandate that the
City of Miami District Maps that we are
currently using — continue to be used
throughout the duration of this year and for
this upcoming General Election for District 3
and 5. It would be confusing, disenfranchise
voters and completely unfair for the maps to
be re -drawn, changed and implemented
before our upcoming General Election. The
candidates currently campaigning to
represent both District 3 and 5 in this
upcoming election and voters would be
negatively affected if you all allowed that to
happened. I urge you to solidify the plans
for our upcoming General Elections but I also
urge you to ensure that the District Maps

Good Morning, My name is Crystal Waite and
I have been in and around the neighborhood
of 55 NW 35th Street for a few years now. I
am in support of NRD2. The addition of
sustainable living areas, beautiful parks, the
potential for growth of small business and
hopefully the emergence of Main Street in
the near future. This is the change that this
neighborhood needs! Thank you to the City
of Miami Commissioners and the Wynwood
Norte Community Association for the work
you have done to push Miami Forward.
Gambling will just bring in more unwanted
people to miami and drive up shadier things
in the city...we have the worst image already
all casinos will do will bring this same image
in and more ...focus on the amazing things
we have and preserve and work on those
things ..say no to gambling
For years, residents of Miami's Upper
Eastside have participated in public hearings
to provide input and commentary for capital
improvements to our Legion Park community
center as well as upgrades to park amenities
and repair of the Legion Park boat ramp. I
can't BEGIN to list how many presentations
we have attended or the number of meetings
held with City officials. We've been asking
since at least 2016. Yet despite these
exhaustive efforts, here we are, YEARS later,
and none of these projects have made any
headway! It's not even a question of
funding --the funding is there. I implore this
Commission to please insist on a more
efficient oversight of capital spending
programs which have been a constant
frustration and thorn in the side for
concerned residents all over the City and
reflects so badly on our City administration.
Edgewater needs this poker room and Jai Alai
fronton as it will bring more revenue and
charm to the city. This will grant over 150
jobs that are good paying and offer
employment security; which we as a city
need specially during these difficult times.
Thank you, I hope you take this into
consideration.

the most important historic structures in the
City of Miami and, perhaps, all of Miami
Dade County. It stands shoulder to shoulder
with grander structures, the Freedom Tower

commission to allow the building to remain

capable managers. Thank you, Timothy F.

Don't allow a casino at Biscayne Blvd and NE
30th Street please! We want to make this
city nicer and this area family friendly and
nice. What happened during spring break in
Miami and Miami Beach is just a preview of
what is yet to come if we allow this casino. If
we keep portraying this city as a party city,
that kind of people will keep coming! Please
say NO to the casino!!
Commission meeting the 25th of March.
Magic city casino. WE do not want it in our
neighborhood. Very bad idea. You should
find a solution to ease the traffic on Biscayne
bld. Everyday it is completely clogged due
mainly by the 36 crossroad building a tunnel
under it would be wise and should have been
done a decade ago. Anyway NO CASINO on
Biscayne Bld. Thanks
Building a casino in an area that is already
overwhelmed with traffic and lack of
infrastructure is not only a bad idea, but one
that should be dismissed. Biscayne Blvd
cannot handle all of the huge buildings
already allowed.
Bringing more jobs can help push more
revenue to our city where we can improve
our inner city issues. Such as improving in
transportation and policing around the city.
Ban Gambling in the Edgewater area! We are
over crowded, crime is high, traffic is
insane...how is a casino going to enhance the
lifestyle of the neighborhood7777777 NO
ONE WILL BENEFIT FROM IT! Please do your
job!
As an Edgewater resident, I strongly oppose
the proposed casino on Biscayne Blvd. Aside
from the gambling itself, this neighborhood
simply CANNOT deal with more traffic. Our
streets are at a standstill twice a day already.
The 31 Street site along w/current
infrastructure cannot accommodate this

facility with proposed 4000 attendees, plus

already very urban neighborhood from
becoming a traffic congested and concrete
nightmare
As a resident of Edgewater for over 9 years, I
have witnessed the transformation of
Edgewater. The neighborhood greatly needs
more green space, parks, community space,
storm water mitigation due to high density
zoning and solutions to traffic. Allowing
gambling in this area will only create more
hardships for our community and the claims
that casinos will benefit the economy are
very short sighted and do mot consider long
term benefits for climate action. Please find
it in your heart to support the vote to NO
casinos in Edgewater and please support the
ban on gambling. Edgewater is an an active
community with lots of dogs, ducks and
children penned in by chain link fences and
construction sites in the shadow of intrusive
luxury towers. Edgewater is an
environmentally sensitive coastal area
where 80% of the sea grass in Biscayne Bay
is gone. There was a massive fish kill last
year and we have to protect the
environment for future generations- you can
not gamble nature away. It cannot be
replaced.
As a resident in this area I do not want a
casino of any kind. I moved to 36th St and
Biscayne with my family for how great this
area is becoming and a casino would
drastically change in a negative away from
how this area is transforming. I always walk
from 36th and Biscayne to the grocery store
on 19th St. I don't want to walk past a casino
with my daughter.
