We Live just up the street from Dade Heritage Trust's
headquarters in Dr. Jackson's old office. It's one of the
few remaining reminders still in BrickeLL of the old
BrickeLL. It would be a disgrace to the City of Miami if the
Land on which the building stands is developed into
another high rise, or turned into a dog park. Please
follow the wishes expressed by the voters in 2016 and
give the Dade Heritage Trust a Long-term Lease on the
building.
This site is a public treasure. It is of upmost importance
to preserve this gem of our Local history in this Location
where the public, children and tourists can visit. Dade
Heritage Trust has contributed significantly to creating
special places which mark milestones of the history of
Miami -Dade County. The Lease should be extended for
decades.
This is a request to extend the lease as approved by the
residents of Miami back in 2016. Not only is this an
iconic historical landmark for the City, Dade Heritage
Trust is the best steward for this building. Please extend
this lease for another 10 years.
The importance of continuing the previously approved
lease for Dade Heritage Trust is critical to the City of
Miami for economic, urban innovative planning and civic
reasons. DHT helps in identifying and preserving the
presence of historic districts and landmarks to maintain
Miami's essential element of municipal character and
identity. This site itself is historic and was the office of
Dr. James Madison Jackson, who was the first resident
physician of Miami. Dr. Jackson was the founding
president of the Rotary Club of Miami. Jackson Memorial
Hospital is named after Dr. Jackson who helped develop
Miami with respect for its origin and with an eye on
continuous civic ideals and engagement. I represent the
Rotary Club of Miami as approved by the Board of
Directors for the Club and myself as a citizen of Miami
and a community organizer. Thank you for your
consideration. Noreen Timoney, 305-401-0101
