OPINION
lino de los efectos mas de-
vastadores de la pandemia
de coronavirus ha sido el
cierre de negocios y la re-
duccion de personal en nu-
merosas empresas, lo cual
ha provocado, como efecto
domino, un aumento en
la cifra de desempleados,
muchos de los cuales nece-
sitan reorientation, capa-
citacion o reciclaje laboral
para volver a incorporarse
a otros sectores.
Si a lo anterior le af,adi-
mos la necesidad de cubrir
miles de plazas vacantes,
se hace mas urgente una
educacion universitaria, y
la disponibilidad de opcio-
nes de aprendizaje de ca-
lidad como las que ofrece
el Miami Dade College. La
educacion es la via para
darle un nuevo impulso a
la economia y empoderar
nuestras comunidades.
El College ofrece una am-
plia gama de programas
academicos creados para
que los estudiantes obten-
gan empleos en industrias
crecientes y en demanda
como la salud y la tecno-
logia. En nuestro proceso
de transition durante la
pandemia, hemos afia-
dido nuevos programas,
creado secciones adicio-
nales de cursos y progra-
mas de ayuda financiera
y ampliado nuestras mo-
dalidades de aprendizaje
para que estudiantes ten-
gan la maxima flexibili-
dad y apoyo.
Tambien hemos am-
pliado nuestras ofertas de
clases para aquellas per-
sonas que se proponen
adquirir las nuevas des-
trezas que exige un em-
pleo bien remunerado, en
profesiones de gran de-

tas se destacan los cursos
intensivos de desarrollo.
Un aspecto muy impor-
tante que caracteriza al
MDC es la asequibilidad
de esos cursos. Por eso es-
tamos ofreciendo nuevos
incentivos que se suman a
los ya disponibles.
Los estudiantes de nuevo
ingreso, existences y que
vuelven a clases que se ins-
criban entre el 13 y e129 de
enero. se beneficiaran con
hasta 13 horas credito, lo
cual equivale basicamente
a estudiar sin costo alguno
durante un semestre. Pero
hay mas: un estipendio de

Las proximas fechas de
inicio de los minisemes-
tres de primavera son: lunes
25 de enero (14 semanas);
lunes 8 de febrero (1z se-
manas) y lunes 8 de marzo
(8 semanas). 0 sea, que los
alumnos actuales y poten-
ciales tienen tiempo sufi-
ciente para matricularse
y materializar sus suefios
de estudiar en una institu-
tion asequible, inclusiva y
abierta.
Las clases estan disponi-
bles en cuatro formatos:
MDC In -Person, con asis-
tencia presencial en dias
y horarios programados;
MDC LIVE, clases virtua-
les en dias y horarios de
reunion previamente esta-
blecidos; MDC Online, que
consiste en clases 100% vir-

estudiantes pueden realizar
en cualquier momento, y
Blended, una combination
