It turned out that when Commissioner Francis Suarez asked for a study last year, he
learned that "left for review" meant close to a full year — an average of 310 days to get a
permit for a single-family home or a $10o,000 or less remodeling or project.

EXPEDITING AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECTS
• As of July 16, 2020, the Building, Planning, and Zoning Departments automatically
identifies affordable housing projects at application submission.
• Affordable Housing projects are given a "High" priority in our ePlan system.
• All departments will be actively working to report on the rate of timely completion for
the review of affordable housing projects.
• Host project specific coordination meeting with developers and design professionals
of affordable housing projects after the first round of comments.

EXPEDITING AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECTS
• Section 10-04(b)(3)c (Proposed for December 2020 Agenda): Code revision to
provide Expedited Joint Plan Review Services with updated fee structure and waivers
for Affordable Housing projects that will include Zoning, Resilience and Public Works
and Planning departments.
• Section 10-04(b)(3)i (Proposed for December 2020 Agenda): Revision to the
TCO/TCC process to provide additional flexibility for granting extensions. This will
include language to waive certain TCO/TCC fees for Affordable Housing projects.
• Section 54-58 (Proposed Amendment) will be amended to allow the right of way
dedication for affordable housing projects to be postponed as part of the permit
process, when such is located on city land and or where a County -owned land
requires their BCC approval.
