PH. anyone who would, today, buy the land on the DHT site, would also
4 discount its value heavily for the uncertainty around the development
7611 of the lot across the street. The city should also be weary of
Bid relinquishing their rights over DHT plot before knowing what form that
Waiv much larger development next -door will take. that fact is in addition
er - to the questionable wisdom of allowing a building on such a small
Dad plot, in such an oversupplied area. and these economic
e considerations are in addition to the unique cultural value of Brickell's
Herit only museum remaining on its original site. Miami is a city of false
age starts and rebirths. at some point, we have to start building on our
Trust cultural legacy, instead of wiping it away and shifting it around to
make space for the next new thing. the voters expressed their will

What are the steps to closing our neighborhood like Coral Gate to
prevent prostitutes on SW 8th street and Flagler from using our
streets as their motels? Our community is strongly supporting this
enclosure since this has been an ongoing problem that has not been
able to be addressed properly. Our request is to enclose SW 42
avenue to SW 47 Avenue and SW 8th Street to Flagler to prevent
John's from using our streets to pick up and drop off prostitutes and
use our swales as their motels and garbage cans (infected needles,
condoms, liquor bottles, etc.)
Traffic issues continue to be a problem along SW 5th Terrace between
Othe 47th Avenue eastbound to 42nd Avenue. A second speed hump had
r been approved and promised. The cut -through traffic makes the
quality of life difficult in our neighborhood.

7611 There are at least 5 active construction sites on the Brickell-Roads

1st Ave Dad now is not the time to put yet another project up in an area which

The scooter program has ruined the quality of life in Brickell and has
ruined the ability for residents to walk safely in Brickell on our
sidewalks. They are a threat to all pedestrians, please do not
continue this program any longer for the sake of all of our pedestrians
in Brickell.
The lease of the Dade Heritage Trust should be extended. This land
should not be sold to a private developer because Brickell needs the
Dade Heritage Trust to remain exactly where it is.

The Dade Heritage Trust is one of the few historic houses in Brickell.
Brickell has enough high rises but little to celebrate its history. I find it
absurd that the city would prefer to have a high rise at the place of
this historical house, which, in addition to being a historical
monument, also hosts interesting exhibits in the Brickell area. It's one
of the few places of culture in Brickell. We need more culture in
Miami, more history, more intellectual sites, not more high-rise and
more traffic.

Regarding the extension of the Dade Heritage Trust's lease at 1905
office of Dr. James Jackson and the topic of moving that gorgeous
piece of history, the moving of history takes away from its past. One
of the deciding factors for me to move my family here to the Miami
Othe Dade county was the historical charm that still stands tall through all
r of the growth this city has endured. Moving this artifact away from its
original place takes away from the very thing that sets Miami apart
from other cities: our historic architecture. At some point we must
take a look at our path and answer the question: just because we
can, does it mean we should? No, we should not move that building.

In a city that moves and grows as fast as Miami it is important to
have reminders of where we came from. Dr. Jackson's Clinic has
stood on the same corner of Brickell for over a hundred years. It is
part of the soul of the neighborhood, adding character to an area
PH. already overrun with high rises. For the decades they have occupied
4 the building Dade Heritage Trust has been model tenants and
7611 stewards. The organization has taken great care to maintain the
Bid building in excellent condition. In recent years they have also chosen
Waiv to surround the building with native plants to attract and encourage
er - the butterfly and bird populations. This little garden is a welcome
Dad sight in the concrete neighborhood Brickell has become. DHT has
e utilized the space in an effective way to share Miami's history and
Herit future with the general public with its permanent and rotating
age exhibits. The building's status as a visitor center has been helpful to
Trust tourists and natives alike. To remove the building from such a central
location would reduce its effectiveness. To remove the building would
Inc. be to excise a part of Brickell's soul. As a Miami native, it is
encouraging to witness an organization express its love for the city
through education and nature. DHT, through their thoughtful care, has
made me proud of Miami's history. Please support Dade Heritage
Trust's preservation work and allow them a long-term lease.
I'm writing in reference to the new city lights that have gone up on
our neighborhood. This new lamps are causing light pollution in our
community and are intrusive in our homes. This is not the solution to
crime prevention in our neighborhood. These lights will negatively
impact our property values as no one wants to live in a street that has
Othe no night. This also has a negative impact on our health as too much
r exposure to blue lights has been proven to cause many health risks
such as but not limited to insomnia, mental health issues, etc., and
this also has a negative impact in our natural habitat as well. Please
address this issue, if you would not want a stadium spot light shining
in through your front door and windows then don't make us suffer
through it either. Thank you in advance.

I support executing a long-term lease with DHT, which was the will of
the voters in 2016.
I strongly object to the proposition to end the Dade Heritage Trust
lease - basically eliminating the only museum in Brickell and one of
the few non -condominium structures remaining. This is very
disappointing. As an owner and voter, I strongly object. This
neighborhood has the potential to be great, but allowing rampant
construction at the expense of the few true community spaces that
are left is horrendous and short-sighted. Study the greatest cities in
our country, and you'll see they all have varied use of space - from
areas that support culture, to green spaces that support public
engagement. We are quickly losing all of this in Brickell. Supporting
the end of this lease is just the newest example. And since money is
clearly important to certain commissioners, a neighborhood marked
by oversupply of condos will gravely hurt the short- and long-term
earning potential of this area. Empty buildings do not attract buyers,
and empty units means lower home values and property taxes for
you. Logistically, have you visited the land being considered for this
48-story eye sore? It is tiny and in an already congested area of the
city. The decision to add that many units (and cars) to such a tiny
space defeats all reason. Simply because you can fit that monstrosity
in such a space definitely does not mean you should. I strongly urge
you to think of the long-term good of this neighborhood, and vote to
renew the Dade Heritage Trust lease. More importantly, respect the
will of the voters who in 2016 voted to grant a long-term lease to
DHT.

I do not want to see this beautiful historical landmark relocated. That
would only destroy the nature of it's symbolism and Historical value.
Furthermore, as an apartment owner in Solaris it would destroy the
value of my property which currently enjoys an unobstructed view of
Biscayne Bay. There is almost no distance or set back between the
home and our building and erecting a 48 floor high high-rise right in
front would almost be and invasion of privacy! I am totally apposed to
this proposal.
I ask the Commission to renew and extend the long-term lease with
the Dade Heritage Trust. As a Brickell resident, I am strongly opposed
to the sale of this land to a developer. Another high rise would only
further contribute to the overcrowding, environmental degradation and
congestion in my neighborhood. The Dade Heritage Trust is an
important piece of our history and it should be allowed to remains in
its current location for the long-term. I urge the Commission to
respect the will of its constituents and their vote in 2016 to extend the
lease with the Dade Heritage Trust. Thank you for your time and
consideration.

I am writing to you upon hearing that the City is considering breaking
its commitment in the 2016 charter amendment that allowed for a
long-term lease for Dade Heritage Trust (DHT) to accomplish its
mission in its current location. I urge the City to carry out its
commitment in the 2016 charter amendment and execute the long-
term lease with DHT. Pursuant to the City's Code of Ordinance,
Chapter 23, the City is to preserve and protect the heritage of the city
through the identification, evaluation, rehabilitation, adaptive use,
restoration, and public awareness of Miami's historic, architectural,
and archaeological resources. The DHT is the leading and largest
advocate of preserving Miami-Dade's architectural, environmental,
and cultural heritage, and helps the City meet its historic preservation
responsibilities. The consideration of selling the lot where the DHT
operates to a private developer and the impacts of relocating their
office, a nationally registered historic property, inhibits the City from
meeting its responsibilities of its own Code of Ordinance. I urge the
City to reassess the short-sighted benefits that this sale will have.
Miami does not need any more high-rises. Miami residents do not
want any more high-rises. We want the city to support and provide
spaces for historic preservation, such as the operation of DHT in its
current location. The people of Miami have already expressed this
desire in 2016, which has been since ignored by the City. I urge the
City to recognize and implement the 2016 charter, for the long-term
benefits of historic preservation grossly outweigh the short-sighted
benefits of this sale. Again, I urge the City to execute a long-term
lease.

Dr. Jackson's office needs to stay in Brickell. Its location makes it a
great spot for visitors. It's like a gem amongst all the high-rises.
Walking through our beautiful, bustling city and finding this lovely
house from a bygone era, nestled by the bay, is one of my fondest
memories. It draws you in into what Brickell, and Miami at large,
used to be in the early twentieth century. To have our city's history be
so accessible is such a gift. Dr. Jackson's office must stay in its
current location. It is impractical to do otherwise. Why jeopardize
such a vital part of our city's history by moving it? Where could it go
that it would remain so easily accessible to tourists and visitors? The
people voted in 2016 for a long-term lease. The people have already
decided that this is the best space for Dr. Jackson's office. Dade
Heritage Trust can better maintain the building at this location, and
can better enact their role as a visitor center. The value of Dr.
Jackson's office as a teaching tool is incalculable, and its current
location in Brickell is a crucial part of that.
Do we have a code enforcement unit?
Dear commissioners, As a neighbor, as a tour guide, and as someone
fascinated by our beloved city's history, I have ask to renew the Dade
Heritage Trust lease as it is. Our community needs this little piece of
history in our very modern neighborhood. Another building in such a

Dear Commissioners, Please protect and preserve the Dade Heritage
Trust house and former office of Dr James Jackson, the first
physician in our city, by leaving it where it has been and should
remain since its construction. All of you have certainly traveled to
many great and beloved cities of the world. New York City, Boston,
Paris, Madrid, London, Milan, Vienna offer a few familiar names.
They all have succeeded at preserving and protecting landmarks such
as this house thus creating their special character and charm over the
span of generations. There are more than sufficient high rise buildings
in the area surrounding the Dade Heritage Trust House and allowing
another detracts from the city and destroys a treasure in their midst.
Every beautiful and elegant city of the world has special treasures
such as this house punctuating the landscape as a respite and rest for
the eye, a place to reflect and learn for adults and children, and as a
feature that generates interest for residents and visitors alike. Miami
has every reason to be numbered among the beautiful and elegant
cities listed above however this can only be achieved by protecting
and preserving our treasured elements. Dade Heritage Trust does this
work on our behalf and now we are called to protect and preserve
their house. Thank you for your kind attention Cristina Vidal, M.D.
