Before the pandemic, 35.4% of city residents were spending more than 50% of their household income on housing. Any reduction of income in a household will make it difficult for such households to continue to pay their rent. The City and County's rental assistance programs provides only one -month assistance. Additionally, because of the limited amount of funding and the lower (60% AMI) threshold, most households will not receive support, or the one - month of support will not be enough to fully pay rental arrears. This program is intended to provide assistance to households that are facing eviction and are not in need of Homeless Prevention or Rapid -rehousing services. Source of Funding: Previously Allocated General Fund Funding for this Program: $306,000.00 Eligible Costs: Payment of rental arrears Amount of Assistance: Rental arrears not to exceed $3,500.00 per household.
