Support - Florida Historical Marker Designation
Purpose of Item:
The Miami City Commission declares no objection and supports the placement of a
Florida historical marker designation, pursuant to Section 54-136(1) of the Code of the
City of Miami, Florida, as amended, in the public right-of-way located at approximately
3749-3701 Plaza Street, Miami, Florida (Southwest corner of Plaza Street and Palmetto
Avenue) as Cocoanut Grove Park is hereby authorized.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DECLARING NO OBJECTION
AND SUPPORTING THE PLACEMENT OF A FLORIDA HISTORICAL MARKER
DESIGNATING THE PORTION OF THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY LOCATED AT
APPROXIMATELY 3749-3701 PLAZA STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AT THE
SOUTHWEST CORNER OF PLAZA STREET AND PALMETTO AVENUE, AS
"COCOANUT GROVE PARK"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO
TRANSMIT A CERTIFIED COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN
DESIGNATED OFFICIALS.
WHEREAS, an application (#HM-039) has been made by certain City of Miami ("City")
residents to the Department of State's Division of Historical Resources ("Division") to place a
Florida Historical Marker designating the portion of the public right-of-way located at
approximately 3749 — 3701 Plaza Street, Miami, Florida, at the Southwest corner of Plaza
Street and Palmetto Avenue ("Marker Location"), as "Cocoanut Grove Park"; and
WHEREAS, the Division provides maintenance in perpetuity for Florida Historical
Markers once they have been installed; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission declares no objection and supports the placement of
this Florida Historical Marker located at the Marker Location designating the same as "Cocoanut
Grove Park";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Commission declares no objection and supports placement of a
Florida Historical Marker at the Marker Location designating the same as "Cocoanut Grove
Park", provided that the Division maintain the same and subject to such language on the Florida
Historical Marker being approved by the City's Administration.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
necessary documents, all in forms acceptable to the City Attorney, to effectuate the purpose of
this Resolution.
Section 4. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the
Division's Director.
1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by
the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
