A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT, ALLOCATE, AND
APPROPRIATE A CULTURAL FACILITIES GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF STATE, DIVISION OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS ("FDCA") IN A
TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SEVENTY-EIGHT THOUSAND, TWO
HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS ($78,250.00) FOR RENOVATIONS TO THE
LITTLE HAITI CULTURAL CENTER, OFFICE OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT NO. 40-B183511; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ALLOCATE AND APPROPRIATE THE CITY OF MIAMI'S REQUIRED
MATCHING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED
FIFTY-SIX THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED ONE DOLLARS ($156,501.00) FROM
LEGALLY AVAILABLE FUNDING SOURCES; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT AND A
RESTRICTIVE COVENANT, BOTH IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY
ATTORNEY, WITH FDCA FOR SAID PURPOSE; FURTHER AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ANY AND ALL OTHER
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, AMENDMENTS, EXTENSIONS, AND
MODIFICATIONS, ALL IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY,
FOR ACCEPTANCE OF AND COMPLIANCE WITH SAID CULTURAL
FACILITIES GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") is planning renovations to the Little Haiti Cultural
Center located at 212-260 Northeast 59th Terrace, Miami, Florida 33137; and
WHEREAS, the scope of work for the Little Haiti Cultural Center Project, Office of
Capital Improvements ("OCI") Project No. 40-B183511, consists of, but is not limited to, internal
and external repairs and renovations to the building, park enhancements, and right-of-way
improvements ("Project"); and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs ("FDCA")
awarded the City a Cultural Facilities Grant in an amount not to exceed Seventy -Eight
Thousand, Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($78,250.00) ("Grant Funds") for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the City is required to allocate and appropriate matching funds in an
amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifty -Six Thousand, Five Hundred One Dollars
($156,501.00) ("City Match") from legally available funding sources; and
WHEREAS, the Grant Funds shall be used solely for costs associated with the Project;
and

WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Manager to accept the Grant Funds and to
negotiate and execute a Grant Agreement and a restrictive covenant, both in a form acceptable
to the City Attorney, to set forth the terms and conditions for the use of the Grant Funds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized' to accept, allocate, and appropriate the
Grant Funds from the FDCA for the Project in an amount not to exceed Seventy -Eight
Thousand, Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($78,250.00).
Section 3. The City Manager is further authorized' to allocate and appropriate the City
Match in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifty -Six Thousand, Five Hundred One Dollars
($156,501.00) from legally available funding sources.
Section 4. The City Manager is authorized' to negotiate and execute a Grant
Agreement and a restrictive covenant, both in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with the
FDCA for said purpose.
Section 5. The City Manager is further authorized' to negotiate and execute any and all
other necessary documents, amendments, extensions, and modifications, all in a form
acceptable to the City Attorney, for the acceptance of and compliance with said Grant Funds.
Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.2

1 The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all legal requirements that may be
imposed, including but not limited to, those prescribed by applicable City Charter and City Code
provisions.
2 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
