Subject: Donate Vehicle - Fire Department of Grand Bahama Island
Purpose of Item:
Adopt a Resolution to authorize the donation of a fire apparatus to the Fire Department
of Grand Bahama Island to be used for public purpose, which may include community,
civic, or social service programs. This Resolution will authorize the City Manager to
execute the necessary documents for the said donation.
Background of Item:
The City ("City") of Miami Department of Fire -Rescue decommissioned one (1) Ford
F250, Model Year 2005, Unit #UL504, Vehicle Identification Number ("VIN")
1 FTSW21 P35ED27808 ("Truck").
Pursuant to Section 18-82(a) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended,
("City Code"), a surplus declared as Category "A" stock shall be available for disposition
as the City's contribution or the City's commitment in support of a particular public
purpose, which may include community, civic, or social service programs as may be
authorized by the City Commission.
The Fire Department of Grand Bahama Island was impacted by one of the strongest
Atlantic hurricanes on record and the island was left with catastrophic damages as well
as many losses. The donation of said truck will aid the island in their rebuilding efforts.
The City Manager recommends adoption of this Resolution which will allow the City of
Miami to donate the fire apparatus to the Fire Department of Grand Bahama Island.

A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-82(A) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, CLASSIFYING ONE (1) FORD F250, MODEL YEAR 2005,
UNIT # UL0504, VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER 1 FTSW21 P35ED27808 AS
CATEGORY "A" SURPLUS STOCK; DONATING SAID VEHICLE TO THE FIRE
DEPARTMENT OF GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND UPON EXECUTION OF THE
APPROPRIATE RELEASE DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami's ("City") Department of Fire -Rescue decommissioned one
(1) Ford F250, Model Year 2005, Unit No. UL0504, Vehicle Identification Number
1 FTSW21 P35ED27808 ("Truck"); and
WHEREAS, the City's Chief Procurement Officer has declared the Truck as category "A"
surplus; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 18-82(a) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as
amended ("City Code"), a surplus declared as Category "A" stock shall be available for
disposition as the City's contribution or the City's commitment in support of a particular public
purpose, which may include community, civic, or social service programs as may be authorized
by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department of Grand Bahama Island ("Bahama") was impacted by
one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record, leaving the island with catastrophic damages
and many losses and the donation of the Truck to Bahama will aid the island in rebuilding
efforts;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-82(a) of the City Code, the Truck is classified as
category "A" surplus stock.
Section 3. The Truck is donated to Bahama upon the execution of the appropriate
release documents.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and
signature of the Mayor.'
1 If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10) calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
