A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE
INDEPENDENT AUDITOR GENERAL TO INVESTIGATE THE ACCUSATIONS
PRESENTED AT THE DECEMBER 12, 2019 CITY COMMISSION MEETING DURING
THE DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEM DI.5; FURTHER DIRECTING THE
INDEPENDENT AUDITOR GENERAL TO PROVIDE A STATUS REPORT ON THE
INVESTIGATION AT THE JANUARY 23, 2020 CITY COMMISSION MEETING.
WHEREAS, Section 48 of the Charter of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended,
provides that the Independent Auditor General ("IAG") shall be responsible to provide
independent oversight of audit functions and for the performance of such other duties as may
be assigned by the City Commission or any member of the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, during the discussion of agenda item D1.5 at the December 12, 2019 City
Commission meeting, the City Commission received information about potential irregularities
relating to the issuance of a building permit; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission determined that further investigation by the IAG is
necessary to dispel any concerns regarding the circumstances related to the issuance of the
building permit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are
adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The IAG is directed to investigate the accusations presented at the
December 12, 2019 City Commission meeting during the discussion of agenda item D1.5
relating to the issuance of a building permit.
Section 3. The IAG is further directed to provide a report on the status of the
investigation at the January 23, 2020 City Commission meeting.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
