A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MIAMI
DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA ("MIAMI DDA"), WITH ATTACHMENT(S), PURSUANT TO
SECTIONS 14-56(B)(1) AND 14-58(A) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, APPOINTING JOHN ELIZABETH ALEMAN AS
THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE MIAMI DDA EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1,
2020 AND SETTING THE SALARY AND BENEFITS AS SET FORTH IN
EXHIBIT "A".
WHEREAS, pursuant to Sections 14-56(b)(1) and 14-58(a) of the Code of the City of Miami,
Florida, as amended, the Board of Directors of the Miami Downtown Development Authority of the City
of Miami, Florida ("Miami DDA") shall have the power to appoint an Executive Director of the Miami
DDA subject to the approval of the Miami City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the retirement of Alyce Robertson, the current Executive Director of the Miami DDA,
was announced in the Spring of 2019; and
WHEREAS, the Miami DDA thereafter appointed a Leadership Transition Committee
("Committee") to recruit a new Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, the Committee conducted a comprehensive, methodical and deliberate search process
to identify candidates with the guidance of Korn Ferry, taking over six (6) months, with over four hundred
(400) candidates applications reviewed; and
WHEREAS, after the above referenced exhaustive search, the Committee recommended the
appointment of John Elizabeth Aleman ("Aleman") as the new Executive Director of the Miami DDA
effective January 1, 2020 with the salary and benefits as listed in Exhibit "A," attached and incorporated;
and
WHEREAS, based upon her unique qualifications including service as a senior executive in two
Fortune 500 companies, combined with her public service as a former elected official, Ms. Aleman has
received the unanimous and full support of the Miami DDA's Board of Directors to be its new Executive
Director;
WHEREAS, on December 13, 2019, after a proper motion and second, the Miami DDA voted
unanimously to adopt this Resolution to respectfully and strongly urge the Miami City Commission to
approve Ms. Aleman's appointment as Executive Director of the Miami DDA;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE MIAMI
DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Miami DDA respectfully and strongly urges the Miami City Commission to approve
Ms. Aleman's appointment as Executive Director of the Miami DDA.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
